Government & Community Relations Officer

Government Relations
  • Work with the related departments and assist as a mediator to deal with the Government on certain requirements, such as applying, renewing, extending and terminating of licences, permits and certificates for certain areas but not limited to the buildings and its facilities. Departments may include Education and Business & Operations teams.
  • Establishing and maintaining government relations and advocacy efforts by having regular meetings or communication with the key person in the Government related to each matter concerned, or by other ways in maintaining or improving the relationships as allowed by the school and within the laws and regulations. This includes assisting in the preparation prior to any meetings of BSJ Management with certain government officials.
  • Actively look out and identify any issues concerning topics that might affect the School’s relations with the government and/or the communities and report directly to the Government Relations Manager.
  • Assist the Government Relations team in developing policies & procedures for the School related to government relations.
  • If requested, assist in identifying and analysing significance of regulatory (and related policy) initiatives and trends to the Education industry in general and BSJ in particular.
Formalities
  • Coordinate and administer all expat formalities process with the appointed formalities agent for new hires and existing expatriates staff and their dependents until permits are obtained.
  • Coordinate with the relevant parties (Immigration Office, The Ministry of Manpower, The Ministry of Education Culture, etc) when necessary in relations to expat formalities to smoothen the process
Community Relations
  • Represent the School’s interests to help maintain and manage relations with the representatives of the relevant communities surrounding the School, including the neighbourhood association/RT, RW, Lurah, Camat, and local community entities around the School area such as local police, military, Kodim, orphanage, mass organisations, etc.
  • Support and work with the Security team to handle complaints from communities surrounding the School, and perform negotiations if needed.
  • Work with related departments for any activities related to the surrounding community including but not limited to charities, independence day celebrations, religious celebrations, etc
General Duties
  • Perform any other relevant duties or tasks as requested by the Government Relations Manager.
  • Ensure all duties/tasks carried out and performed follow the School’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively promote the well-being of all students and be familiar with, and uphold all, Child Protection & Safeguarding policies.
  • Uphold and be familiar with the Data Protection policy and procedures within the school.
