Summary:The U.S. Consulate Medan is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Guard (Senior Guard).
The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week).
SENIOR GUARD Major Duties and Responsibilities
SUPERVISORY AND REPORTS– 40%
OPERATIONAL, ACCESS CONTROL AND CONTACTS – 50 %.
COLLABORATION WORK AND CONTACTS – 10 %
EXPERIENCE: Two years of Embassy/Consulate, military, police, or private experience in the field of security required; of which 1 year of the experience must be as a line supervisor or working leader with responsibilities for coordinating a range of activities that involve directing, monitoring and redirecting actions of a team.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the Guard Orders, emergency notification process, experienced with state-of-the-art security equipment and processes, knowledge of local cultural norms and customs.
Completion of secondary education is required.
Evaluations:LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:
Limited knowledge level in written and spoken English is required. Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is required. (This may be tested).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of and ability to operate the security control panel, emergency alarms, and the public address system. Ability to use state-of-the-art security and radio communication equipment. Ability to use First Aid Kit Trainings. Ability to use fire extinguisher. Ability to use personal protective equipment (i.e. PR-24, straight batons, handcuffs, and flexi cuffs, etc.). Daily duties may involve extended periods of walking and/or standing in a wide variety of weather conditions.
The incumbent must lead and provide guidance to guards assigned to his/her team. Must have the ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, demonstrate reliability and be firm, courteous and tactful in a variety of situations. Must be able to comprehend orders and directives quickly. Ability to take clear and decisive action especially during emergency situation. Must have a valid driver's license (SIM C).

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. The Mission may consider any of the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
2. Current employees of the Mission who have not successfully completed their initial probationary periods are not eligible to apply. Current employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory or MBC score of 100 points or less, on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
3. Current employees of the Mission hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment. This does not apply for employees on a PSA (Temp), or those are hired on a When Actually Employed (WAE) or intermittent work schedule.
4. Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor’s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.
All candidates must be able to obtain and hold a Public trust - background security clearance.
