Job Description
We are looking for an individual that is legal and compliance oriented with strong business and commercial acumen to fill the position of Deputy Legal Counsel. Any digital, e-commerce and technology background will be a plus point. You will be part of the core legal team overseeing the legal and compliance needs of AirAsia SuperApp Indonesia (a digital subsidiary of AirAsia Group Berhad) that owns and operates the e-commerce platform for travel, lifestyle, daily essentials and fintech. You will be based in Indonesia.
Purpose of Role
Provide professional and practical legal advice fused with commercial sense as well as to provide compliance and governance support to AirAsia SuperApp and its subsidiaries.
Accountabilities
Identify legal risks and alternative strategies in a defined area;
Ensure documents accurately reflect business and commercial concerns and are consistent with legal obligations.
Proactively monitors for changes in relevant laws and regulations and caters for those changes accordingly.
Evaluates exposure of business to legal risks and acts to mitigate exposure
Appropriately resolves common legacy and liability issues that may have a legal impact
Work as part of a team and with both internal and external stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Contribute to the team and future legal initiatives with focus on operational excellence,continuous improvement and driving sustainable culture of change.
Work largely independently but collaboratively within a virtual team to provide cross-support and guidance and needed.
Supports the day to day challenges across the AirAsia Com value chain and all classes of business including its local and foreign subsidiaries.

What You’ll Need:
Law degree and professional legal qualification with strong academic background and at least 13-15 years post-qualification experience working in a law firm or legal department of a medium to large international corporation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in explaining legal concepts and issues in simple language to non-lawyers and provide succinct, accurate and comprehensible legal advice.
Knowledge of the legal areas relevant to e-commerce and digital including contracting and procurement
Ability to understand and take account of business drivers and needs, and to draft contract with appropriate understanding and interpretation of the business and commercial intentions
Strong influencing, negotiating and facilitation skills
Exposure to international civil and/or common law contracts
Ability to develop and sustain relationships with clients at all levels and in a range of cultures.
