OUR COMPANY
Established in 2017, Lestari Capital is a start-up environmental enterprise, built to protect the world’s
natural assets through a commercially viable business model. We accomplish this by mobilizing new finance
for initiatives that protect and rehabilitate important natural landscapes around the world. The Indonesian
word "Lestari" means sustainable, or everlasting, signifying our commitment to developing long-term
sources of finance for high quality conservation and restoration initiatives.

As the global commodity, transportation and energy sectors begin to respond to evolving market
requirements, Lestari Capital works in parallel with the same forces driving supply-chain transformation to
generate financing for conservation. Lestari Capital supports multi-stakeholder sustainability standards by
providing credible, transparent and efficient ways for the private sector to meet and surpass sustainability
commitments, certifications and import requirements. We are using this approach in Southeast Asia,
demonstrating how the cost of environmental impact can be built into the cost of commodity production.

Lestari Capital’s impact model addresses a critical need for long-term operating capital for Projects run by
local communities, conservation non-profits and environmental services companies. Lestari Capital aims to
strengthen Southeast Asia’s emerging ecosystem services marketplace, by connecting demand for on- the-
ground conservation efforts among commodity producers/buyers with Projects that are protecting or
restoring forests where these companies operate, to protect at-risk areas.

At the center of Lestari’s approach is the Sustainable Commodities Conservation Mechanism (SCCM), which
finances Projects for a minimum of 25 years. The SCCM provides independent fiduciary oversight that ties
payments to results on the ground, ensuring benefits to local communities, global climate and biodiversity.
Funds are managed through a financial vehicle domiciled in Singapore that delivers payments through a
custodian bank.

Lestari Capital’s diverse Project portfolio includes internationally certified initiatives on the forefront of
tropical conservation, ecosystem restoration and community forestry. Our company specializes in
selecting, vetting and financing certified conservation, restoration and community-forest Projects that

protect forests, peatlands and biodiversity. This includes working with members of the Roundtable on
Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and those with “Zero Deforestation” pledges. Efforts are also underway to
expand to additional commodity sectors, as our company supports emerging sustainability trends through
a credible and transparent conservation finance platform.

Lestari Capital is supported by a diverse group of public-private partnerships and brings actors from the
commodities and finance sectors together with conservation initiatives and funders. Our portfolio
prioritizes support for Project models that can eventually support jurisdictional and national climate
targets.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This communications internship is a 3 month with potential for extension, full-time paid internship. This role
requires an energetic, dedicated and detail-oriented person who can manage multiple tasks while delivering
high quality results. This individual is a team-player with an interest in sustainability and environmental
issues, willingness to learn, adapt to challenging environment and ability to manage multiple tasks while
adapting to shifting priorities.

Key focuses for the intern are:

• Assist Communication Manager in managing, building and maintaining strategic relationships with

journalists and editors, especially in environmental and sustainability issues,

• Provide data to build compelling press releases,
• With guidance from Communications Manager, work on social media posts to engage the key target

audiences,

• Event organizing.
• Assistance to Comms Manager in managing external consultants for the tasks above
• Ensuring all the tasks are done within the stipulated timeline
  

The position of Communications Intern will be subjected to on-the-job experience, i.e., managing
relationships with media, building messaging for targeted key audiences, concepting, and implementing
events with Indonesian and extendable to multinational audience. The intern will also enjoy working
opportunities with a team and external consultants from different regions and backgrounds. The
opportunity will also add a new asset to his/her CV and improve their networking skills.

The role will report to the Communications Manager; and support overall efforts of stakeholder
engagement and business development under the Head of Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships.
The outcome of the intern’s work is to assist the ongoing cross-functional work which aims to strengthen
the company’s foundation for a solid case for business expansion and strategy supporting government
engagement.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Media Relations

• Identify, provide, and update a list of media, journalists and editors (including but not limited to

name, desk, cell-phone number, and email address), especially environmental issues related
media.

• Build, manage and maintain relationships by contacting the selected media with strategic

messaging, including explaining to the journalist/editor about Lestari Capital, especially Rimba
Collective.

• Assist with press release/media advisory writing, distribution, and media outreach,
• Assist with media interview scheduling and coordination
• Build a media monitoring report, and provide links and/or scan of news published by the media.

Social Media
• Draft and organize social media contents to promote Lestari Capital (), especially Rimba

Collective (RC) initiative towards its stakeholders.

• Create and coordinate content for social media campaigns
• Source related contents to post on social media.
• Analyze responses on social media to understand public/ key stakeholder perception on and RC

Event Organizing
• Event concepting, proposal writing, and budgeting

• Facilitate smooth event execution
• Research for most effective and cost-efficient vendors

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or other relevant fields.

1-2 years of working experience is a plus.

• Fresh graduates who can demonstrate skills, passion, and overall enthusiasm in:

§ Building media network
§ Social media
§ Writing and editing

• Good computer skills in the main software programs (Excel, Word, Power Point Access, etc.)
• Eager to learn about conservation and supply chain projects, conservation standards, and project

development.

• Good communication both oral and written, in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
• Having a media database is be a plus.

a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.

• Values the sharing of information and continuous improvement in a cooperative atmosphere of

constructive evaluation and learning.

WORK CONDITION
The candidate will have the flexibility to be able to commit to travel to research sites as and when
necessary.
