DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE

Your future role

Austin has an exciting permanent full-time employment opportunity for a suitably qualified Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Manager at our purpose-built manufacturing facility in Batam, Indonesia. Reporting to the General Manager, this role will ensure that Austin drives SHE resources, activities and programs that align with Austin’s organisational strategy and operational requirements.

Role duties

  • Motivate and inspire teams, helping individuals grow and improve, and taking care of all other team-related responsibilities especially regarding SHE matters.
  • Demonstrate visible felt leadership by modelling the correct behaviour as it relates to SHE.
  • Lead the organisation to embrace the principles of Human and Organisational Performance.
  • Lead the creation of a true Learning Organisation particularly related to Safety improvement.
  • Openly demonstrate curiosity (seek to understand) in all matters related to Safety, Health and Wellbeing
  • To ensure all Workshop & Office operations comply with SHE systems. Develop, maintain and review SHE programs to ensure compliance with legislative and industry standard requirements.
  • Aware of all Standards and Regulation to be followed and lead the implementation forward looking safety in our Workshops with all personnel.
  • Responsible to assist with the preparation and coordination of JSA (Job Safety Analyses) and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Participation in, and coordination of, effective SHE meetings who’s focus is on learning and improving.
  • Provide advice and assist in the development of any corrective action plans for SHE.
  • Keep up to date with all changing factors within the external environment, i.e. new legislation or technologies that will benefit our manufacturing processes.
  • Implement continuous improvement in relation to SHE, openly communicate and regularly engage with all employees on SHE matters and develop and foster an awareness of same.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections and ensure previously identified corrective actions for all identified hazards have been closed out in a timely manner.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & LICENCES
  • Minimum 6 years in safety supported with a Diploma in Safety & Health or equivalent from a reputable university + valid AK3 Umum certificate or similar.
SKILLS & EXPERTISE
  • Environmental certification would be advantageous.
  • Direct experience integrating quality, safety and environmental management systems. Preferably familiar with SMK3, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 or similar.
  • Experienced in a similar position or comparable operation driving safety & health forward and engaging employees at all levels.
  • Proficient with computer literacy, minimum MS Words, MS Excel and MS Power point, knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Good knowledge of computer applications used for communication, presentation, and effective report writing skills. Proficient communication in English & Bahasa Indonesia fluency in verbal and writing is a mandatory.
  • A detail-oriented person, KPI, process driven and highly organized, possessing strong leadership and good communication skill.
  • Business contingency qualification or experienced in conducting business risk assessments and mitigation plans.
  • Willing to work the necessary hours to improve safety across all shifts, and able to work under pressure. Able to work independently in daily execution.
  • Experienced in a heavy manufacturing environment or previous experience in a steel fabrication would be preferred.
