ROLE SUMMARY

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?

  • New Categories Operations covers 30+ markets 3 Commercial Regions and the US, a diverse range of cultures and volatile operating environments.
  • New Categories Operations works directly with multiple Tier 1 suppliers who assemble and pack our products in line with our defined Quality, Cost and Delivery expectations. In addition we have a network of preferred Tier 2-3 suppliers who build components and sub-assemblies for our products.
  • The key objective of this role is the continuous delivery and performance management of an effective and flexible external Supplier base that supports the ongoing needs of NC Operations. Driving a Continuous Improvement mindset within the suppliers, their processes and cascading throughout the supplier tiers and BAT where appropriate.

ACCOUNTABILITIES


  • Be the single-point-of-contact for all ‘BAU’ operations activities at the respective Supplier.
  • Lead the local Supplier-based NC Operations team to ensure targets for Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) are achieved.
  • Managing the BAU output and performance from the supply base by utilising DDS / WDS / MDS methodologies.
  • Working collaboratively with the SNO team, ensure that production changes are managed and write-offs minimised.
  • Ensure correct escalation of any significant impacts to QCD Product supply from the respective supplier.
  • Become a local and active customer partner who will respond and react to supplier issues and concerns immediately.
  • Lead cross-functional groups to assess the supply base process capability and identify opportunities to increase output without impacting quality, whilst at the same time reducing cost.
  • Leverage dashboards and data analysis to drive productivity improvements leveraging Lean tools to drive a zero waste mentality and deliver cost savings.
  • Support training and continuous improvement programmes in the supply base and ensuring synergy of understanding between suppliers and BAT.
  • Facilitate successful hand-overs of ‘new’ products into business-as-usual, following an agreed period of post launch ‘Hypercare’
  • Ensuring the consistent and correct application of Production management tools within APQP(Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP(Production Part Approval Process), Root Cause Analysis and FMEA(Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Ensure correct and current production capacity ‘offers’ are visible as well as constraints and short-term ‘surge’ capacity is available for NC Operations scenario planning when required.


EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE

ESSENTIAL

Experience Required

  • Operations line management in FMCG Supply Chain. (2-5 years)
  • Quality management processes
  • Experience working within monthly & Weekly control cycles.
  • Experience of project management including New Product introduction.


Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

  • Sound knowledge of Production management processes.
  • Understanding of Supply planning processes.
  • Working knowledge of Lean tools e.g. Lean 6 sigma, 5S and VSM.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence stakeholders across the commercial and operational business including suppliers


Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

  • Desirably Masters / graduate calibre in Operations Management, Engineering or Science
  • Excellent level of report writing and technical / conversational English


BENEFICIAL

  • Prior experience of operations / supply chain management in consumer goods and electronics industry
  • Experience of using IT supply chain planning, scheduling and ERP systems.
