US Based agency seeks freelance English (EN) to Bahasa Indonesia (ID) interpreters with recognized near-native proficiency in English, both for remote and on-site interpretation events.
Interpreters:
Key objective: Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation between two languages. Perform a key role in ensuring everyone has an opportunity to participate without hindrance by interpreting during meetings and translating documents to prepare for meetings. To ensure success, you need to process and impart information swiftly, and relay intentions, emotions, and tone in your interpretations. Preferred applicants have outstanding problem-solving skills, and have the ability to work to a high level of accuracy.
1. Language skills: (i) Excellent bilingual communication skills, both verbal and written, in Indonesian and English, other language is a plus. (ii) Proficient enunciation and pronunciation skills, and pleasant, professional voice. (iii) Proficient understanding of cultural sensitivity, and ability to collaborate with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. (iv) Minimum 5 years of interpretation experience.
2. Interpretation priorities: (i) Providing parties with clear and exact translations of written materials, and interpretations of verbal communication. (ii) Imparting thought, purpose, spirit, emotions, and tone of speakers from a source language into the target language. (iii) Interpreting with no additions or omissions. (iv) Complying with applicable ethics and standards. (v) Outstanding listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
3. Subject matters skills: (i) Minimum 4 years of post-secondary education and (ii) Familiarity with the terminology and concepts associated with either: macroeconomics, economic development, finance, accounting and banking, international trade, environmental management, social sciences, political sciences, education and public health, agriculture and rural development or, engineering fields, as demonstrated by a university degree or translation samples, complemented by references.
