SNV Netherlands Development Organisation

SNV specializes in supporting the resourcefulness of development actors by developing local capacities, improving performance and services, strengthening governance systems, helping to create access for excluded groups and by making markets work for the poor.

SNV is anticipating an upcoming 5-year project on a sustainable palm oil supply chain in North Sumatra. The project is targeting to reach 20,000 smallholders who will benefit from the key activities covering BMP Regenerative Agriculture, Institutional Business Development, and Women Economic Empowerment. To support the project, SNV is currently looking for 3 Project Field Officers to be based in project locations.


Job Description
  • Provides process services and delivery to reach project goals, as advised by the advisor within given guidelines, ensuring consistency and quality of deliver. Guides and trains locals in (training towards) performing conform project goals.
  • Informs and is informed about the development / changes in the project, is consistent responsive to the client community and pro-active and confident in engaging with external stakeholders (government, NGOs, private sector or other relevant stakeholders).
  • Collects data in the field (paperwork) checks and enters all relevant data into relevant system(s). Signals abnormalities.
  • Assesses service delivery quality and adapts service processes, to increase efficiency.

Qualifications
  • At least a bachelor's degree in, and a minimum of 3 years of experience working in, one or more of the following areas: agriculture, forestry, environment, conservation, biology, social science, and other related fields.
  • Excellent skill and experiences in community development program, such as training, extension, campaign, and technical assistance.
  • Experience in working in palm oil agronomy field or plantation, and in N. Sumatra or the region will be an advantage
  • Ability to work in an inclusive and collegial way with NGO partners, local government, local companies and other stakeholders, and ability to communicate and maintain a strong relationship with the stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and a good understanding of English will be an advantage.
