WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a Senior Chemical Engineer to be based in Jakarta Nike PMO office, Indonesia. The incumbent will manage chemical components development and manufacturing at shoe factories and supervise the chemical operations in Indonesia.

The candidate is an effective communicator, a multi-player, possess creative thinking and the ability to work cross-functionally.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

If this is you, you’ll be working with both company’s counterparts, our external factory partners, suppliers, and act as a bridge within the team. You will communicate chemical components creation, process setup and ensure chemical components were well created during development stage and mass produced with good built-in quality at great efficiency. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end operations required in the manufacturing of chemical components.
What a typical workday/week will look like:

  • Review model level chemical component requests and deploy the commercialization projects among factories & suppliers through effective communication channels.
  • Provide chemical expertise and ensure chemical components were well created during development stage
  • Lead chemical trials, review and confirm all related reports
  • Work with line manager to support assigned department goals and projects.
  • Supporting role in elevating factory partner’s chemical team performance
  • Working on local supplier management under the guidance of Converse Technical Service team.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

As a Senior Chemical Engineer, you will work directly with factory partner’s chemical team, chemical suppliers for all model level chemical projects, collaborate with other Chemical Engineers to conduct related trials at production. You will work directly with factory partners & other functional team members (Manufacturing Engineer) for model trials and lead the chemical components creation process. You will also collaborate with other functions in Asia such as Planning, Costing, Tooling & Product Engineering teams for model level chemical issues. WHAT YOU BRING

  • A bachelor’s degree in Polymer or Chemistry
  • Minimum 8 years of chemical engineering experience. Working experience in a shoe factory will be a plus
  • Good application knowledge of Vulcanized rubber material
  • Good understanding and relevant experiences of Adhesive (Rubber based and PU based)
  • Data driven decision making capability and skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Great communication skills in both spoken and written English
