Under broad direction, the Operations Manager Defence will be responsible for the management of the administration of ADS-J, out posted staff and Defence visitors in Indonesia, ensuring oversight of the operational elements of Australian Defence and Commonwealth regulations and agreements. On average Defence has over 100 distinct visits a year ranging from the minister and senior uniformed officers to junior service members. The groups range from single travellers up to groups of 100 people. Some visits are short notice due to operational requirements whereas other groups have a longer lead time.
Defence routinely brings weapons and ammunition (dangerous goods) into Indonesia and the office manager is responsible for the co-ordination and engagement with support agencies. The OM undertakes the accommodation related lease work for unattached A-based members which includes the management of the associated budget (USD500,000+ a year).
