OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:

Globally, the new Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) roadmap was developed with ambitious targets to be reached by 2030 for all NTDs. WHO continues to facilitate Preventive Chemotherapy (PCT) and Multi-Drug Therapy (MDT) medicines donation to Ministry of Health (MoH) Indonesia to contribute in achieving disease eradication, elimination, and control goals. To monitor achievements towards these ambitious targets from subnational to national level, a robust health information system is needed for surveillance, recording and reporting, and programme monitoring and evaluation. A high-quality data system, and analysis of data are also necessary to plan drug distribution programmes, from the estimation of population at risk and number of treatments needed, to monitoring of implementation, health outcomes, and appropriate resource utilization.

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNED DUTIES:

Technical Support

Under the direct supervision of Medical Officer Communicable Diseases as well as in coordination/collaboration with the Ministry of Health, and also broad guidance of the WHO Representative to Indonesia, the incumbent will work as follows:

• Support Ministry of Health in the adoption and implementation of global NTDs roadmap through development and maintenance of Lymphatic Filariasis (LF), Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis (STH), Schistosomiasis, Leprosy, and Yaws information system;
• Further develop current NTDs information system in order to accommodate more advanced data management system;
• Assist National Programme to monitor routine data collection from province and district level for LF, STH, schistosomiasis, leprosy, and yaws, as well as results of surveys related to the diseases;
• Assist National Programme and WHO Country Office for Indonesia for data collection and reporting from national to regional and global level, including the submission of Joint Application Packages and Annual Leprosy Statistics;
• Perform any other tasks pertaining to the National Programme as required by the WHO Representative to Indonesia, Medical Officer CDS and/or the National Professional Officer NTDs.

Management Support

• Coordination

The SSA holder works intensively with NTDs Programme WHO Country Office for Indonesia and Sub-Directorate of Neglected Diseases and responds to any queries from WHO-SEARO, WHO-HQ, and donors/partners as needed by programmes.

• Meetings

The SSA holder attends relevant meetings as facilitator, organizer, or other relevant functions relevant to its scope of work. She/ he also does consultations and discussions with Sub- Directorate of Neglected Diseases and relevant partners when necessary.

• Document review

To enable to work efficiently and effectively, the SSA holder should refer to available documents relevant to provide necessary technical assistances for WHO and Ministry of Health.

• Development of progress and final report

This document will serve as a reference and documentation for WHO and National Programmes, and one of performance evaluation tools.

Education Qualifications:

Essential: Bachelor’s degree in public health, biostatistics, health science or related field from a recognized university

Desirable:

• Master’s degree in public health
• Training on data management

Experience:

Essential: At least three (3) years of professional work experience in data entry and analysis

Desirable:

• Experience working with the national government, provincial or district offices
• Experience working in the UN or other international development organizations

Languages:

Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia

Other Skills (e.g. IT): Work is performed in normal working environment.

Computer literacy: Working knowledge on MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point.

SSA National Consultant – NTD, Level 4. Between IDR 12,566,600 and 19,547,933 (In accordance with WHO Salary Scale for SSA).
