Merchant Supplies is one of Grab's latest innovations where we are helping our food merchants to get access to cheaper food ingredients, both fresh and non-fresh. We have a startup founder attitude and operate like a startup inside a startup!
Get to know the Role:
We are seeking entrepreneurial and passionate Fresh Merchandise Managers to own the Fresh Category for Grab Merchant Supplies business. If you join us in this role, you will provide thought leadership on assortment management, supplier identification and negotiations, campaign planning, pricing strategy, and inventory management. You will also be rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty while working closely with a cross-functional team. Being an early member of the team, you will help us set up the best practices for category management function and will report directly to the merchant supplies manager . You would succeed in this role if you are a critical thinker that leverages data heavily, can thrive in unstructured environments, can take initiative, and operate with a high degree of autonomy.
The Day-to-Day Activities:
P&L ownership
Full P&L responsibility for the category you own including revenue, margin, wastage & other P&L levers.
Identify and capture auxiliary revenue opportunities
Assortment Management
Understand merchant expectations and develop assortment strategy to best serve customer requirements while meeting business objectives
Execute the assortment plan by identifying suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms, and on-boarding products to our assortment at a rapid pace
Work closely with merchandisers to accurately forecast demand and ensure a high availability rate through careful planning and de-bottle-necking supply issues
Work closely with the operations team to manage wastage
Pricing & Promotions
Optimize pricing, and promotions to maximize the top line as well as the bottom line
Build competitive intelligence and ensure Grab is able to provide best in class offerings to its merchants
Work with companies to secure brand funded promotions and advertising investments
Provide cross-functional support to
Help to design systems and processes to minimize time spent on day-to-day tasks and allow more time for strategic thinking
Work closely with growth and marketing teams to ensure our offerings are clearly communicated to our customers
The Must-Haves:
Bachelor’s Degree from a top undergraduate institution.
A track record of driving meaningful impact in fast-paced enterprises / new-age technology companies
5-7 years of experience in a business role in e-commerce companies / top tier consulting firms/strategy or route-to-market teams of multinational FMCG companies
2-3 years of experience in category management or merchandising is preferred
Insightful understanding of the Indonesian grocery market will be a plus
