University Counsellor

Location: Indonesia

The University Counsellor is a key role within the school and encompasses responsibility to provide professional leadership and management within the school which secures high quality, worldwide university and careers guidance, procedures and actions, effective use of resources and improved standards and achievement for all students.

Applications are invited from experienced and dynamic professionals who hold a relevant degree and work experience in the education sector. Individuals must be outstanding practitioners and who will lead by example, has the ability to provide a model of excellent classroom practice, who is highly committed, and possesses excellent organisational and communication skills. Most full-time teachers are also form tutors. Every member of the teaching staff is expected to provide one extra-curricular activity session as a minimum per week and are also expected to contribute to the wider community aspect of school life.

General duties and responsibilities include but are not exclusive to:

To be part of the team (with Head of Sixth Form/IB Coordinator and the Wellbeing Leaders for year 12 &13) delivering university guidance and support in the application process to staff, students and parents.
To share responsibility for the system of collation of references from staff in order for the UG team to write effective transcripts and references.
To share responsibility for the tracking of student applications and communicate this information to tutors and staff as necessary.
To review annually with Line Manager the overall University Guidance Programme and contribute to the SIP.
To share responsibility for the effective programme and calendar of university visits to BSJ.
To conduct group presentations and individual student/parent interviews as required.
To assist in the update of the school profile annually and keep a data-base of student destinations, offers and acceptances, supplying it an annual report to the Head of School/Assistant Heads on student destinations.
To communicate effectively the careers and university opportunities available to students and the school community in general.
To contribute to the PSHE programme teaching as required about careers and preparation for university.
To represent the school at appropriate careers, university conferences.
To foster school membership of appropriate professional careers and guidance counselling bodies within Indonesia and elsewhere and contribute as necessary.
To ensure that the careers and university library is kept up to date and to further investigate appropriate resources to enhance this facility.
To attend appropriate workshop training courses.
Actively promote the well-being of all students and be familiar with, and uphold all, Safeguarding policies and Child Protection procedures within the school.
In liaison with your Line Manager, take responsibility for upholding Health and Safety practise within your own working area and be responsible for completing risk assessments/near misses as appropriate.
Understand and work within school policies.
Undertake any reasonable duties as advised by the Head of Secondary/Deputy Head of Secondary.
Work independently to gain insights & know-how of evolving attack techniques on mobile devices, autonomous systems, SCADA and Internet of Things
Plan, lead and execute cutting-edge research on counter measures and mitigation against cyber attacks
