Summary:

The work schedule for this position is:


  • Full Time (40 hours per week)


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties

The Political Assistant for Security Affairs works within the Political Section’s Security Unit and is supervised by the Counter Terrorism (CT) Policy Officer. Basic functions of the position are as follows:


  • Identifies issues for research, analysis, and reporting. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data relating to Post’s Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) projects and CT policy. Supports as needed on Foreign Military Financing (FMF), International Military Education and Training (IMET) budget requirements, defense trade controls, maritime security, and cyber security issues.

  • Coordinates many Political Section and Security Policy Unit activities, including interagency cooperation, special projects, biographical files, and visit schedules.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: At least three years’ work experience in government, journalism, research and analysis, education, or international affairs is required.


(Please note that one credited year of working experience is equal to 40 hours/week x 52 weeks or 2080 hours.)

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree of political science, law, international affairs, international relations, journalism, foreign policy, public policy, sociology, psychology, philosophy, and/or history is required.

Fluent Speaking, Reading, and Writing in English is required. This may be tested

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Indonesia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
