The Department of Home Affairs supports the Australian Government to achieve strong national security, a strong economy, and a prosperous and cohesive society. The Department is responsible for administering the Immigration Program (comprising temporary visas, permanent visas, and the Humanitarian program) and the Citizenship program.
The Department also leads a diverse range of policy areas, including trade and customs; traveller and border security; national security and law enforcement; emergency management; counter terrorism and countering violent extremism; cyber security and countering foreign interference; multicultural affairs and settlement affairs; migration and citizenship; and transport security.
About the position
Under general direction, Visa Processing Officers are responsible for the assessment and/or finalisation of visa applications. Visa Processing Officers undertake these duties while also completing appropriate verification activities to ensure the integrity of the migration program.
