About Our Client

Our client is a rapidly expanding data centre company who is looking to bring in a competent Mechanical Field Supervisor to help in the construction and operational phase of the project.

Job Description

Construction Phase:

  • Advise the Construction Manager of any technical aspects of the Mechanical and Fire System services that may affect construction progress, e.g. quality or snagging.
  • Support Mechanical Engineer to review and evaluate consultant's drawing in conjunction with the structural and Architecture engineers to ensure engineering co-ordination and advise the Construction Manager accordingly.
  • Attend the Project Manager's internal meetings.
  • Implement and coordination with Mechanical and Fire Contractor including LLE Vendor for daily and weekly project schedule.
  • Set up meetings to resolve specific site problems as required to minimize program delays.
  • Advise on long lead equipment (LLE) MEP items that may affect progress of the works.
  • Deal with Contractor's RFIs relating to the Mechanical and Fire Work.
  • Monitor quality of the Contractor's construction installations.
  • Ensure that daily and weekly progress reports are produced with regards to MEP works.
  • Designing and implementing daily & weekly work schedules for the Mechanical staff.
  • Inspecting and assessing the work done by the electrical contractor.
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawing to ensure the proper installation of Mechanical & Fire systems.
  • Ensuring the work is completed on schedule and to code.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work area.
  • Consulting with builders, architects, and other discipline on-site.
  • Involve in Test and Commissioning for Electrical and Electronic System (FAT, SAT and IST).
  • Support Electrical Engineer to review Method of Statement Electrical & Electronic System Installation.
  • Support Electrical Engineer to review Drawing Submission and Material Submission

Operation Phase

  • Perform hands-on operation and maintenance of all Data Center building engineering-related equipment and systems, which include, but are not limited to: Mechanical (HVAC, chillers, pumps, etc.); Electrical (UPS, PDUs, generators, switchgear, etc); Plumbing; Building Automation and Control Systems (BAS, BMS, etc.); Fire/Life Safety (alarms, suppression, etc).
  • Carry out routine Preventive and Corrective Maintenance as directed on all equipment specified.
  • Promptly report all equipment/system anomalies noted.
  • Maintain logs, record readings, document equipment histories, and prepare other engineering-related documentation.
  • Provide access/escort service to subcontractors working in engineering areas as required.
  • Participate in all training programs provided.
  • Actively take part in all emergency drills and respond quickly and appropriately to all emergencies occurring in the facility.
  • Ability to work independently and with other team in a professional manner.
  • Conduct all work in a professional manner and respond courteously to all client requests.
  • Write, or assist in writing, documents related to the operation, maintenance and repairs of equipment and systems. The documentation includes Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP).
  • Support Data Center Manager to prepare Monthly Report to the Customer.
  • Support Data Center Manager to prepare draft of Monthly Report to the Customer.
  • Operating Engineers will carry out maintenance/operations tasks as assigned by management and submit accompanying documentation in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties within their field as assigned by immediate supervisor.
  • Work weekend/evening shifts as required.

The Successful Applicant

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or 5+ years of relevant experience Data Center Project or Data Center Operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings and technical manuals required.
  • Has the knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, BIM 360 and Project Management software.
  • Demonstrated experience with Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, Mechanical Ventilation and Fire Systems (Gas Suppression, Sprinkler and VESDA/HSSD).
  • Data Center Training Certification
  • Fluent in English is a Plus.
