We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities (YPL)

YPL and BV develop locally led approaches to support marine conservation that benefit people and nature alike. By listening and responding to basic needs, we design our models to catalyse and sustain marine conservation, unlocking the potential of coastal communities to manage their resources. We work in places where the ocean is vital to local cultures and economies, and are committed to advancing the rights of small-scale fishers throughout the coastal tropics.

Summary and Role

Yayasan Pesisir Lestari (YPL) is a Bali-based marine conservation organisation that aims to empower coastal communities managing their local marine ecosystems in ways that enrich livelihoods and sustain healthy oceans for generations to come. Based in Bali, in cooperation with Blue Ventures, a UK-based marine conservation organisation, we're building partnerships with local organisations who work closely with coastal communities across provinces in Indonesia.

We are recruiting a dynamic, flexible and initiative-taking Health-Environment (HE) partnership officer to strengthen and support the development of HE approach among growing YPL’s partner organisations in Indonesia. The role will entail providing support to develop new partnerships and maintaining good relationships with existing partner organisations, providing technical assistance for partners in implementing HE approach, developing technical partnership strategy in the context of Indonesia health system, providing technical strategy in monitoring and evaluating health-environmental programs, facilitating learning exchange and network among different organisations with similar values to HE approach.

The successful candidate will be joining orientations with different teams in YPL. They will be based in Denpasar, Bali, with frequent travel across Indonesia whenever necessary. This position will involve working in partnership with Blue Ventures’s international and interdisciplinary team with excellent opportunities for professional development and growth.

The candidate should be open to new ideas, embrace innovation and be able to demonstrate experience in supporting effective working partnerships for conservation development. Assessment of applications will include candidates’ alignment with YPL’s core values and mission to support human rights-based approaches to marine conservation and fisheries management.
