The Junior Legal Counsel is responsible for ensuring that the company operates according to the highest ethical,
legal, and compliance standards. The Junior Legal Counsel will provide legal support and advice across
various departments and ensure that the best possible service can be offered to the stakeholders by adopting a
customer-oriented attitude by guiding stakeholders and offering them the most appropriate solution and excellent
services. Support others by acting as an example within the job and supporting the stakeholders as a mentor
(showing best practices on how to approach tasks and offer help where necessary and help them cope with
difficulties). Stay informed about professional knowledge and technical skills in legal and products area to
maximize your professional knowledge and to apply it within the organization in the best possible manner. The key
area of focus is to make first-class knowhow easily available to the legal team and to the organization with the aim
of increasing the quality, consistency and/or cost-effectiveness of the advice that gives to its stakeholders.
What You Will Do
Provide legal services, including advisory, agreement drafting, agreement reviewing, negotiating, legal analysis and research in relation to various legal related matters across the division and liaising professionally with the relevant team and division on any issues arising from, or impacting on, any legal matter.
Principal contact for day-to-day contractual reviews and advisory.
Checking terms of standard and/ or non-standard agreements against company policy and terms of standard forms.
Management of contract renewal/extension dates and related negotiation timetable and legal SOP related
Translating legal documents from English to Indonesian language and vice versa.
Any other ad-hoc duties that may be required.
What You Will Need
Bachelor of Law degree. Having a master’s degree would be an advantage.
Possess Advocate license
At least 4 to 5 years of experience in the field of law, mix of law firm and in-house experience.
Advanced level of spoken and written both in English and Indonesian language.
Ability to work and progress tasks independently, self-initiating and takes a pro-active approach towards projects; seeks direction and advice as needed but also prepared to take ownership and cooperate with different teams, as well in a virtual and remote setting.
Excellent analytical skills with the capacity of identifying all risks and proactively choosing the best solutions, sound judgment, and attention to details.
Ability to multitask and adapt to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Well-developed communication skills (including oral, written and interpersonal skills) and the ability to liaise and negotiate in a variety of contexts, include builds credibility and strong relationships with stakeholders and counterparts.
About The Team
The GoTo Legal team is a highly collaborative group of 50 lawyers stationed across Jakarta, Singapore, and
Vietnam. The gist of our role is to support the team's efforts to scale GoTo’s international business operations
whilst managing legal risks appropriately. Working with the Business, Product, and various functional teams across
the organization, we act as a strategic partner for GoTo on legal matters including for the payments business in
GoTo Financial (i.e. P2P lending, e-money, e-wallet, multi finance), strategic deals, and partnerships, data
protection & privacy, intellectual property, antitrust/competition law, fundraising, among other domains.
