Job Description

Head of local sourcing is a critical position responsible for delivering a very important building block of Kanmo Group towards sustainable and profitable growth i.e. local sourcing/ manufacturing of clothing merchandise across our baby and kids brands. This position would manage a team of 3, pivoting our journey on local sourcing/ manufacturing for brands like Mothercare, Justice etc. It’s a new function for the business and role would be headed by experienced, self driven and dynamic individual who is ready to challenge norm and find solutions to difficult projects . Key responsibilities would include following:

  • Providing leadership, strategy, and the execution for local sourcing
  • Work with internal and external stakeholder to ensure requirements and specifications are captured accurately and planned in timely manner
  • Identify established local manufacturing / agency partners who can help group deliver its clothing local sourcing plans
  • Build supplier/manufacturing base working with local agencies/ factories across brand
  • Independently work and interact with brand principal, to align on tech packs conversion, critical path, QC etc.
  • Product development –Supervise the coordination between principals and vendors in sharing the required details like Tech-Pack, spec sheet, block pattern, trim details, actual color & quality, etc., and explaining our expectations/importance of sample development
  • Work with vendors to get the initial price quote properly filled with all details in open cost sheet format along with development sample. Constantly upgrade the existing vendor base and develop new ones
  • Leverage economies of scale and consolidation / centralization of fabrics and yarns within the vendors
  • Regular communication with internal team and principal to update or align on progress for all orders
  • Ability to source anything across raw materials, fabrics & components, garment suppliers and factories depending on the brands both at Indonesia and globally
  • Stay up to date with the latest innovations, changes in competition, potential partners in apparel sourcing world
  • Forecasting, buy planning, factory loading, capacity planning
  • Negotiating contracts with key suppliers, including costs and terms of supply, service, and quality.
  • Analyzing and calculating procurement costs and developing cost reduction strategies
  • Hiring, training, and managing sourcing department employees.
  • Deliver targets on volume plan, timely delivery, quality and costs

Requirements :

  • 10 – 15 years of experience in apparel manufacturing/ sourcing setup. Would be an added benefit if candidate has baby and kids experience
  • Strong understanding of end to end manufacturing, apparel / fabric sourcing
  • Prior experience working with international brands
  • Knowledge of Indonesian manufacturing capabilities, manufacturing partners and sourcing requirements
  • Understanding of global and local supply chain
  • Graduate. Apparel related graduation such as NIFT would be an added advantage.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both in presentations to senior stakeholders as well as in individual and small group settings,
  • The ability to lead transformation across an organization, influence leaders and solidify relationships with a broad group of people
  • Ability to create effective relationships, influence and collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels
  • Ability to mentor and guide direct reports towards continuous improvement in their areas of responsibility and aligned with their professional development goals.
  • Expert knowledge in the global trade of garment and material options
  • Working knowledge of garment and textile manufacturing processes, factory evaluation techniques and vendor compliance requirements
  • Thorough understanding of the process related to costing of garments and materials
  • Thorough understanding of apparel product process from concept through to order delivery from the factory
  • Knowledge and understanding at a high level of forecasting, buy planning, factory loading, capacity planning
