Program Overview
Launched in early 2014, WRI Indonesia builds on WRI’s global 20-year history in the country and the official establishment of WRI Indonesia office has strengthened our impacts on the ground in recent years. Our current work primarily focuses on forest and land use. Over time WRI Indonesia aims to expand its portfolio to include climate, energy, and city and transportation. In the last three years, WRI Indonesia is working with the demand side of the renewable energy sector and establish an initiative called the Clean Energy Investment Accelerator (CEIA).
CEIA is an innovative public-private partnership initiative that aims to address barriers and scale up renewable energy (RE) deployment for commercial and industrial consumers in emerging markets. CEIA is jointly led by the World Resources Institute (WRI), Allotrope Partners, and the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and is supported by bilateral and philanthropic donors. This year, CEIA Indonesia will work towards energy efficiency and conservation for key sectors, such as commercial, industrial, buildings and food, and beverages sectors. Having these objectives, WRI Indonesia plans to conduct a scoping study on the Energy Efficiency (EE) and Energy Conservation (EC) strategy for those key sectors in Indonesia. This study will become an internal strategy document for future projects for WRI Indonesia
Job Responsibilities
As the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Consultant, you will be responsible to conduct a scoping study on energy efficiency and conservation for commercial, industrial, buildings and food and beverages sectors in Indonesia. This includes mapping opportunities and the latest trend in these sectors, providing advisory, formulating a methodology for each sector, conducting surveys when needed, and coordinating with WRI’s energy team. You will contribute to identifying opportunities of the EE and conservation energy and create a baseline for future projects of WRI Indonesia. After the research and study end, you will be expected to summarize and synthesize your findings, analyses, and recommendations into a short-written report.
The candidate for this position will need to demonstrate excellent research capabilities and experiences; attention to detail; can-do attitude; and strong interpersonal skills.
Below are the responsibilities of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Expert:
Lead and conduct scoping on the energy efficiency, energy conservation, and energy audit for the sectors
Based on the scoping study, developing a report on the implementation of energy efficiency and energy conservation for the sectors, including the current status, challenge, opportunity, and strategic assessment on how WRI can best contribute to the issue.
Advise the WRI Indonesia team on the challenge and opportunity for energy efficiency and energy conservation from the programmatic-strategic perspectives
Contribute ideas to expand WRI position and leadership in this area as well as our strategy as we grow the initiative
At times, required to work at stakeholders’ sites in guiding the development of the analytical products
Deliverables
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Expert will deliver these items below based on the agreed work plan with the WRI’s energy team:
Final report of the scoping study
Periodic report on progress study, strategy, and/or assistance to targeted stakeholders
Job Qualifications
10 years of full-time professional experience performing energy efficiency, energy conservation, and energy audit analysis.
Requires proven and experience on develop scientific reports/publications.
Experience in Energy Efficiency, Energy Conservation, and Energy Audit related research or project are preferred.
Master and/or Doctoral Degree in engineering, urban planning, energy management, or climate science that experienced in Energy Efficiency, Energy Conservation, and Energy Audit.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment and cross-sectoral themes, both independently and as part of a global team across time zones.
Adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and able to manage multiple deadlines and deliver high-quality work products.
Highly motivated, strong can-do attitude, proactive work style, and excellent organizational skills and work ethic.
A detail-oriented and organized thinker who can juggle multiple, competing priorities.
Period of Work
This position is expected to start as soon as possible for 3 months period of contract Terms of Payment
Daily-rate consultant with maximum of 7 (seven) working days per month Must have the authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position.
Final candidates might be required to take a writing test and to produce two writing samples when needed.
Consultant rate: Consultant rate is commensurate with experience and skills.
