Introduction
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Technical Writer Intern to join our fast‑growing software solutions team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into live applications, reverse‑engineer complex system architectures, and transform technical insights into clear, concise documentation that supports developers, project managers, and business stakeholders. The role is ideal for final‑year university students or fresh graduates who are passionate about bridging the gap between technology and communication.
Responsibilities
- Draft, refine, and maintain Technical Specification Designs (TSD) for multiple existing software products, ensuring they stay up‑to‑date with ongoing feature releases.
- Analyze system flows, architectures, database schemas, and integration points of live applications, translating technical details into easily understandable documentation.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, QA analysts, and product owners to verify the accuracy of technical content and to capture any changes in logic or data structures.
- Produce supporting artifacts such as flowcharts, UML diagrams (sequence, use‑case, activity), and data‑model diagrams that complement the written specifications.
- Participate in sprint reviews and backlog grooming sessions to stay informed about upcoming changes and to proactively update documentation.
- Assist in establishing and enforcing documentation standards, style guides, and best practices across the team.
- Contribute to the creation of onboarding materials and knowledge‑base articles that help new team members ramp up quickly.
- Provide feedback on the usability of existing documentation and suggest improvements to enhance clarity and accessibility.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical program (minimum D3/D4 qualification).
- Familiarity with industry‑standard TSD templates and the ability to apply them consistently.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Proficiency in creating and interpreting flowcharts, UML diagrams (sequence, use case, activity), and relational database structures.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to dissect existing codebases and system designs to produce accurate documentation.
- Exceptional written communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high‑quality technical content.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional team environment and adapt to fast‑changing project priorities.
- All genders are welcome to apply; we value diversity and inclusive perspectives.
Benefits
- Competitive internship stipend with the possibility of performance‑based bonuses.
- Mentorship from senior technical writers and software architects.
- Hands‑on experience with cutting‑edge technologies and real‑world production systems.
- Access to professional development resources, including technical writing workshops and certification courses.
- Flexible working hours (Monday‑Friday, 08:00‑17:00) and the option for partial remote work.
- Opportunity to convert the internship into a full‑time position based on performance.
- Inclusive workplace culture that encourages creativity, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing.
