Introduction
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Assistant Chief Engineer to join our luxury hotel property in the vibrant Canggu‑Kuta Utara area of Badung, Bali. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of all engineering systems, supporting the Chief Engineer, and upholding the high‑end standards expected by discerning guests. The successful candidate will be a hands‑on leader who can balance day‑to‑day maintenance activities with strategic project coordination, while fostering a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in planning, scheduling, and supervising daily maintenance, repairs, and routine inspections across all hotel facilities.
- Act as Officer‑in‑Charge (OIC) during the Chief Engineer’s absence, making decisive technical and operational decisions.
- Oversee the execution of preventive maintenance programs through a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as MX, ensuring all tasks are logged, tracked, and completed on schedule.
- Guarantee timely resolution of work orders, prioritising guest‑impacting issues and minimizing downtime of critical systems.
- Coordinate small‑to‑medium scale engineering projects, from concept to handover, including the selection and supervision of external contractors.
- Prepare regular progress reports, analyse performance metrics, and propose process improvements to enhance efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain luxury‑level standards for all engineering outputs, ensuring that all work reflects the brand’s commitment to excellence.
- Enforce fire safety regulations, emergency response protocols, and conduct regular drills to ensure staff readiness.
- Supervise, schedule, and assign technical staff across defined zones, providing clear instructions and performance feedback.
- Support training initiatives and coaching programs for technicians, fostering skill development and career growth.
- Monitor utility consumption, identify energy‑saving opportunities, and actively participate in environmental programmes such as Green Engage.
- Collaborate closely with other hotel departments to understand operational needs and deliver engineering solutions that enhance the overall guest experience.
Requirements
- Minimum education: Diploma in Hotel Engineering, Building Maintenance, or a related field (SMA/SMK or equivalent acceptable for entry‑level candidates).
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in hotel or resort engineering, with a strong background in HVAC, electrical, and fire safety systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse electrical disturbances, calculate load demands, and provide effective solutions.
- Proficiency with CMMS (e.g., MX), Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Male candidates only, aged 38 years or younger.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with guests, vendors, and internal teams while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Strong analytical mindset, problem‑solving orientation, and a commitment to safety and sustainability.
- Willingness to work Monday‑Saturday, 08:00‑17:00, with occasional on‑call duties for emergency situations.
