Your future role

Austin has an exciting permanent full-time employment opportunity for a suitably qualified Production Manager at our purpose-built manufacturing facility in Batam, Indonesia. Reporting to the Operation Manager, this role will ensure that Austin drives resources, activities and programs that align with Austin’s organisational strategy and operational requirements.

Role duties

  • Ensure employees are empowered and accountable for their specific responsibilities, making sure they have appropriate resources and support to achieve their objectives and organisation’s expectations.
  • Administer Company personnel policies and practices.
  • Oversees the management of all human resource issues associated with all personnel within the Workshop.
  • Ability to be flexible and work additional hours as when required.
  • Lead the development and deployment of systems and processes aligned with the Austin Engineering business plan including LEAN, ERP, Job Costing, Capital project implementation.
  • Manage the activities of the workshop to optimise the use of resources, minimise costs and maintain safety, quality, and customer service standards.
  • Ensure all finished products comply with industry standards, OEM machine parameters, customer specifications and site-specific conditions.
  • Ensures job finalisation processes are completed and work with finance team to ensure appropriate billing processes are undertaken.
  • Adhere to operations budget commitments.
  • Apply LEAN systems and tools within the workshop environment.
  • Ensure that every product that leaves our facility/s is at the highest level of quality and meets all the necessary standards.
  • Meet all delivery deadlines as set out by Contracts or Management.
  • Evaluation and assessment of productivity, safety and quality output from all workshop personnel providing feedback and reports to the Operations Manager.
  • Direct workshop supervision to address problem areas within the workshop operations and assist where required.
  • Maintain an ongoing review of workshop rate structures to keep on top of the local industry movements and trends.

Ensure all QA documentation is completed by workshop personnel during the course of manufacturing of each product and submitted in a timely manner including CAR’s MDR’s, NDT and ITP.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & LICENCES
  • Degree in Engineering or relevant technical discipline and relevant management experience.
SKILLS & EXPERTISE
  • Trade certificate in fabrication or equivalent trade qualification desirable.
  • Substantial Leadership capability with an ability to coach and mentor individuals of varying skills to become an effective team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Sound understanding of LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of contemporary trends and issues within the resources sector.
  • Minimum 5 years managerial experience in the respective trade and industry.
  • Efficient organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage time and pressure.
  • Willing to work the necessary hours to improve safety across all shifts, and able to work under pressure. Able to work independently in daily execution.
