At Caterpillar’s Indonesia Batam, we manufacture Hydraulic Shovels products used in building the infrastructure and mining to move materials that makes a better world.
Caterpillar’s Manufacturing Engineer position works both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in product manufacturing.
You will provide expertise in specific areas of the manufacturing process to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective manufacture of product. This is a staff position which is expected to function as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the planning function and which generally falls within the major areas of releasing, test process, layout, work standards and manufacturing development.
As the Test Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
Evaluate projects to define desired results and determine logical approaches .
Evaluates such factors as cost, personnel yearly usage, equipment, space, etc. as well as other information needed to determine requirements .
Prepares feasibility studies for appropriateness and cost effectiveness and submits recommendations accordingly.
Results contribute to the effective management decisions in determining the most efficient processes, methods, machinery, tools, equipment, services, and systems needed in the manufacture of product.
Projection, evaluation, specification, and acquisition of new or replacement machine tools
Capital forecasting correlation and reporting as it relates to new product introduction, prime product capacity increases, machine replacement, and methods improvement
Substituting material or combining similar parts to realize savings through material prices and machining costs .
Analyze tooling failures, testing troubleshooting and evaluate tool characteristics and requirements .
Plan factory and office layouts for effective utilization of space due to rearrangement.
New processes or expansion, determining the need for modern facilities.
Responsible for Test planning.
Fully participate as required in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and PFMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) activities where fabrication operations are required.
Develop and implement assembly processes in line with CPPD (Concurrent Process and Product Development) and NPI design changes, etc.
Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties.
The successful candidate must bring:
University degree in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering-related degree.
Minimum of 4 (four) years experiences in assembly or test process.
Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment with thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts related to testing process.
Understanding in torqueing process.
In depth knowledge and experience in PFMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plan, IPV (In-Process Validation) and standard works.
Proficiently in hydraulic and electrical systems (schematics diagrams).
Proficient in computer assisted design (CAD) for hydraulic and electrical systems and 3D Drawing software, Creo is preferred.
Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Top candidates will also bring:
Have programming skill such as C/C++ or VB is a plus.
Experience in improvement projects with Six Sigma or other methodology.
Having experience working in company with the similar products or test process (automotive or machinery preferred).
