Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

Main purpose of job:

Support the trade promotion team to secure new business for UK companies across a wide range of sectors including energy, infrastructure, education and healthcare in Indonesia. The jobholder will provide research on those sectors and relevant companies, support the delivery of key activities, events and travel, ensure effect account management of key relationships and ensure that reliable records are kept.

You will provide around 20% of your time to each sector. You will also have the opportunity to support the wider team, including working with our regional outreach team with staff located in key cities across Indonesia.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • Support the team’s sector advisers in energy, infrastructure, healthcare and education to secure new business for UK companies in those sectors through successful campaigns;
  • Understand the UK export and investment offer and the tools available to support increased trade in the UK Regional Trade Plan for Asia Pacific.
  • Conduct market research on specific sub sectors and companies as requested by the sector advisers.
  • Monitor relationship management plans for the main stakeholders in each sector to ensure regular contact.
  • Work with the Communications and Events team to provide sector specific content (guestlists, sector information) for the planning of trade promotion activities and events, and ministerial/senior official visits.
  • Maintain good records and notes of meetings and ensure these are available on shared workspaces.
  • Support the newly established UK-Indonesia Joint Economic and Trade Committee, as required by sector leads.
  • Build good relationships with the British Chamber of Commerce, and other relevant trade associations to support your work.
  • Work with the DIT /Embassy marketing teams including regional sector teams to disseminate information of interest to stakeholders
  • Flexibly support other team priorities as requested by your line manager.

This is a 2-year fixed-term position; with possibility of extension.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
  • Good administration stills
  • Ability to liaise with and manage external stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to prioritise competing priorities and work on a number of tasks at the same time.
  • Good communicator at all levels, spoken and written
  • Experience in completing timely and accurate written information in English
  • IT proficiency – Using MS Office, Outlook and ability to learn FCO systems

Language requirements:

  • Language: Fluent written and spoken Indonesian and English
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
  • Trade promotion knowledge
  • Experience of working with international companies
  • Familiarity with the UK and willing to research to build sector knowledge
  • Market research and analysis experience
