Published: Monday, July 19, 2021 Deadline: Friday, August 6, 2021 Country: Indonesia Region: South-eastern Asia Languages: English (fluent); Bahasa Indonesia (fluent); Manado Malay (advantage) Job status: Tender stage Duration: Long-term position Description: For an upcoming project in Indonesia, we are currently looking for a suitable national solid waste management expert who will also function as the Deputy Team Leader Task description:
  • Assume the deputy team leader position;
  • Coordinate the scope of work under this contract in close cooperation with the international expert and the responsible programme staff at the donor;
  • Provide technical and other sectoral expertise, particularly on integrated SWM planning;
  • Time management of project deliverables;
  • Regular updates to the donor's project team;
  • Support the identification of the need for short-term expertise within the available budget, as well as planning and steering assignments and supporting local and international short-term experts;
  • Support the responsible officer in commissioning the updating/adapting of the project strategy, as well as in the evaluation and preparing of a follow-up phase;
  • Assume short term expert functions according to his/her profile; Further tasks as specified in the technical proposal.
Qualifications:
  • Education/training: Masters in Urban Planning/Environmental engineering/ Environmental science/ Environmental planning or other related fields;
  • Languages: Knowledge of English (C1-level), Bahasa Indonesia (native speaker), and knowledge of Manado Malay (advantage);
  • General professional experience: at least 12 years of experience in municipal solid waste management;
  • Specific professional experience: at least 6 years of experience in one of the respective fields in combination with capacity development incl. experience in working with municipalities in Indonesia;
  • Leadership/management experience: minimum 4 years of management/ leadership experience as project team leader or manager in a company;
  • Regional experience: at least 5 years in Indonesia, 1 year in North Sulawesi region;
  • Development Cooperation experience: 2 years of experience working on donor-funded projects.

The expert will be based full-time in Manado, North Sulawesi.
