Job Purpose and Impact

The Manufacturing Technology - Packaging will use engineering knowledge and methods to design and develop packaging processes and equipment. In this position, you will aid in crafting, developing and testing a wide variety of containers used for the protection, display, and handling of products. You will determine packaging specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements, and the type of protection required, considering need for resistance to such external variables as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling, and tampering. Key Accountabilities

You will assist in conducting experiments on different types of materials in a specialized laboratory setting. These settings include those based on analysis of user information needs.
Assist in coordinating projects involving the design and implementation for the packaging of new or existing products.
Plans and conducts packaging laboratory studies to support all packaging materials and design changes.
Helps in preparing documents including cost estimates and works with other packaging team members to deliver packaging laboratory services for development projects, package qualification, and solving efforts.
Collaborates with Marketing, Product Development, and Production to bring new packaging to market.
Builds, modifies, and tests product materials based on durability and cost-effectiveness and may advise customers on efficient packing procedures.
Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Have demonstrated working knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication skills
Ability to work efficiently and effectively as an individual and in a team environment
Ability to handle multiple priorities with large projects extending over a period of time
Prior experience in consumer-packaged goods engineering/development experience
Prior experience working on cost savings projects
