Job Description

We are looking for you if you feel energized by challenges in rivers and coasts, such as climate change related disasters, development of waterways, and nature-based solutions. You will lead and be part of project teams solving easy and complex issues, either in policy development, plan development, design and implementation or realization. Digital tooling is one of our strong weapons in the international competitive world of flood resilience. You are naturally able to find a balance between embracing your vision and implementing new insights and innovative approaches from our workforce of 6,000 bright minds.

As part of the global resilience team, you will actively contribute to the growth of our resilience portfolio by actively utilizing your (and our) networks and contacts! Furthermore, you will:

  • Work across the various international teams and advisory groups in the Business Line Water & Maritime, to develop client relations and acquire projects in Indonesia and Southeast Asia under our APAC business initiatives together with like-minded colleagues;
  • Apply your experience to play an important role as a mentor of younger colleagues and help them to develop their consultancy and project management skills. Leading by example and coaching will be an important, but also fun part of your work;
  • Be based in Jakarta, and available for shorter and longer missions to our clients, offices, partners, projects.

What you will do as Climate Resilience Consultant

  • Prepare project concepts, business cases and technical proposals, and project report deliverables.
  • Technically lead resilience projects at the concept, master planning, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and design phases.
  • Plan, manage, quality control, and close projects successfully by completing tasks and deliverables on time and within budget and to the satisfaction of the clients.
  • Working closely and assisting manager for the climate resilience business growth, including to define, implement and execute the business development/growth strategy.
  • Work effectively in a team setting, including mentoring junior staff and providing them technical advice and guidance.
  • Work effectively with the clients and represent Royal HaskoningDHV in the most professional manner.
  • Work effectively with the processes, tools, and resources of Royal HaskoningDHV, both locally in the Indonesia and globally, including being proactive in sharing knowledge, continuously improving processes, creating innovations, and relentlessly striving for technical excellence.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest best practices, scientific advances, and technological innovations in the industry to cost-effectively deliver flood and coastal resilience services.
  • Provide specific technical expertise in spatial planning, regional planning, developing governance and implementation strategies.
  • Coordinate, challenge, and manage multiple disciplines for complex projects and communicate project objectives/deliverables to drive the best outcome.
  • Seeks out ways to improve planning/environmental analysis processes and ensures critical thinking is conducted throughout the planning team.

What you bring

  • Highly effective technical and practical skills in the disciplines of climate resilience in general and specifically in flood risk planning
  • Able to coordinate and develop a deliverable (report) as well as create a presentation and summary to support the deliverable
  • Strong understanding of planning / environmental governance and policy and can communicate planning / environmental governance and policy
  • Preferably is certified engineer
  • Have the ability to lead multi-projects and work effectively in a multi-functional project team
  • Able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work
  • Adaptable and flexible across a range of projects and clients.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Indonesian
  • Awareness of financial and business targets
  • Confident and personable, able to influence and persuade
  • Team player
  • Independent thinker and have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational skills

Expertise Areas:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in Civil / Environmental / Planning and Design / Urban policy / Sustainable Development or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: hydrology and hydraulics, flood modelling, mapping and forecasting, coastal science and engineering, design of flood control structures, green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, spatial planning, regional planning, developing governance and implementation strategies and climate change analysis
