Get to know the Role

Lead a team of engineers to deliver highly scalable and available services and immersive experiences for consumers

The Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Partner with cross functional leaders across product, design, analytics and data science to build the product roadmap, set customer focussed metrics and robust experiment designs

  • Build a smooth execution plan with the team for securing the delivery of product and engineering roadmap, you are the ultimate owner of the successful delivery and rollout of the roadmap.

  • Set the engineering strategy and engineering excellence metrics and targets for the team, consistently raise the bar across testability, availability, security and code quality for your systems and modules

  • Attract and retain engineering talent, actively mentor and develop engineering talent in the team and across Grab

  • Keep your teams, org structure and staffing aligned with business needs and quickly pivot teams to changing needs

The Must-Haves:

  • A degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or have similar experience with 5+ years engineering experience on backend technologies and at least 2+ years of leadership experience with teams of 5+ people

  • Enjoy coding, and hands-on. Actively follow latest technologies and bring it to the team.

  • Experience as a successful software development leader in large-scale, highly available micro services. Experience working for a start-up or scale-up is preferred.

  • Possess strong communication skills and can communicate complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences effectively. Understand product and have business sense.

  • Demonstrated experience in attracting and retaining key talent. Experience in mentoring senior engineers.

  • A cultural role model with a strong sense of humility and empathy coupled a bias for action and a passionate commitment to engineering excellence
