Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Faculty must demonstrate commitment to professional inquiry and engage in collective processes of:

Identifying essential elements of curriculum and building common units of instruction

Personalizing instruction, knowing and engaging each learner using and planning appropriate interventions

Providing timely and precise feedback using common assessments to provide both meaningful student achievement data to inform instructional practice and an assessment policy that encourages success

Course load (5 out of 8) will be dependent on interest in courses and enrollment. The teacher may be asked to co-teach or take on other duties.

Creates a safe learning environment

Integrate ICT throughout the teaching and learning process

Demonstrates a variety of strategies for maintaining student motivation and interest

Demonstrates knowledge and skills in the content areas

Plans learning sequences that enable students to meet standards and ideals set out in the Essential Qualities of a JIS Learner

Maintains a personal vision of committed, confident learners and uses that vision to guide learning goals, expectations, and standards for student work

Provides memorable experiences for all JIS students

Collaboratively contributes to the Student Support Team and executes ILP’s as appropriate for students in their charge

Demonstrates an understanding and embraces the Restitution Model of classroom management

Work cooperatively with the Visual Art Department Chair in planning projects, developing curriculum, and maintaining a positive school climate

Regularly attend scheduled Department, Faculty, and ad hoc meetings when announced

Perform supervisory duties as assigned, including school assemblies, dances, and co-curricular events

Assist with the interpretation of school programs through parent conferences, orientation programs, and personal contacts

Builds Positive Interpersonal Relationships:
Promotes positive interactions among students who have differing cultural, linguistic, and national backgrounds

Fosters a sense of identity and pride in the school among students, parents, and colleagues

Maintains an open attitude toward new ideas and accepting of others whose experiences, opinions and beliefs may differ

Collaborates with grade-level team, school wide teams and Student Support Team

Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and productive professional relationships with members of the school faculty and administration

Engage with the JIS Professional Growth and Appraisal process

Embrace the JIS Learning Dispositions of Resilience, Resourcefulness, Relating, and Reflectiveness

Perform other related duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the MS Principal
Indonesian Citizen

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with specialization in Visual Art or Art. Masters qualification preferred

Ceramic major or extensive experience, preferred. Safe operations of kilns.

Appropriate teaching credential

Minimum three years of art teaching experience, preferably with experience teaching art at the Middle School level and/or at SPK School.

Strong interest in making interdisciplinary connections with other subjects

Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and digital photography desired

Flexibility, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a large department

Ability to work in English, including writing academic reports and playing a full role in department and PLC meetings

Contributes to the vision of learning for the future at JIS by developing a prototype of personalized pathways for students

A clear commitment to Child Protection, safety, service learning, and environmental stewardship
