Job summary:

As part of the Projects and Markets business line within the Global Sourcing team, the Agricultural Sourcing Specialist, will primarily support the Associate Director of Global Agriculture Sourcing with the Sourcing of carbon focused Agricultural projects. This role would be focused on business development related to the agriculture sector globally. The role is a combination of administration, business development, project analysis, and stakeholder/client engagement. As a key member of the global sourcing team the Agricultural Sourcing Specialist, will undertake activities such as ensuring smooth and eloquent operationalisation of global project sourcing flows, processes, document handling, and database management, as well as coordination with different teams on various tasks and activities.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Support global project sourcing operations activities for agriculture related carbon focused projects
  • Ensure that sourcing flows and processes (including documentation, and interaction with other teams) is in line with the company guidelines
  • Manage and maintain global sourcing database, ensuring that information regarding project leads and opportunities are well recorded and updated
  • Support coordination and collaboration with other teams within South Pole globally in regards to project leads and opportunities, especially the Agriculture Value Chains team and team and global projects teams work in agriculture
  • Conduct research relevant to new project leads, project developers, project owners, relevant regulatory regimes/policies related to agricultural carbon projects
  • Create and negotiate commercial terms with project owners
  • Collect data from Project Owners or other third party for due diligence, technical, financial and legal documentation
  • Where relevant attend meetings/seminars/workshops/events that are strategic for sourcing team activities related to Agriculture
  • Support HR processes in the Global Sourcing team, particularly with recruitment, the development of templates and documentation to support efficient hiring of qualified personnel in the Global sourcing team
  • Facilitating knowledge exchange between geographies, units and teams on Agriculture project sourcing and HR processes and practices within the Sourcing team

Requirements:


Essential

  • University degree in Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Economics, Business Administration, Law, or any other relevant discipline, ideally a Masters Degree or above
  • Work experience: minimum 1 year of relevant experience working in the agriculture sector
  • Experience and interest Client Management and networking — people skills
  • Experience in project identification and screening for potential leads
  • Demonstrated interest or skills with commercial transactions and business acumen
  • Comfortable working with an international and multicultural teams
  • Professional proficiency in English language skills, both oral and written
  • Basic knowledge of carbon credits and related international voluntary standards

Desirable

  • Professional proficiency in one or more other languages is a definite plus
  • Knowledge of the Science Based Targets Initiative, Net Zero and other agriculture related sustainability initiatives
  • Knowledge or exposure, or other demonstrated interest to human resources systems, tools and processes especially around hiring and on-boarding
