Job description


You will develop, improve, and secure world class products from the engineering perspective based on action plans; and quality needs at the New Supplier’s production unit to deliver products satisfying customer expectations in all aspects of Democratic Design.

Your assignment comes to lead and perform manufacturing assessments to identify potential improvements areas. You will lead and participate in manufacturing improvement projects to secure manufacturing development to lower total cost, improve quality and improve manufacturing efficiency at new potential suppliers.

Some examples of work tasks:

  • Lead projects together with the new business development team in case of quality deviations to PDOC or 5GONOGO compliance system to support problem identification, including root cause analysis, and come to resolution
  • Lead advanced and specific local/regional projects related to quality and manufacturing
  • Lead implementation and contribute to development of common working methods and tools in the purchase operations area for the Engineering and Quality matrix connected to new supplier’s start-up
  • Lead and involve the right resources in Purchasing to secure the product development projects are delivered on time, with quality and with full compliance.
  • Lead product development at the factory floor from a technical point of view and secure scalability for further implementation at new suppliers
  • Lead Assessments (ISOS (IKEA Supplier operating standard)) and evaluate the new supplier’s manufacturing performance, systems, and competence to produce IKEA products.
  • Create together with the new business team manufacturing/Quality improvement plans to secure first deliveries and new suppliers start-up

Qualification

  • Good knowledge of IKEA Strategic Landscape, IKEA Business model for growth and key processes (e.g. PDP, SDP, DPOP) and IKEA Purchasing Manual
  • Knowledge of Category Plans and Total Cost development
  • Good knowledge of Project management tools and methodology
  • Good knowledge of purchasing teams and suppliers daily operational activities
  • Good knowledge about customer’s demands and expectations on product quality
  • Good knowledge of the product requirements, standards, and test methods to verify requirements of products
  • Good knowledge of materials' properties and construction and its impact on cost and sustainability
  • Good knowledge of production processes and technologies
  • Good knowledge of production conditions and supply chain preconditions with customer and cost in focus
  • Good knowledge of the value chain from raw material to finished goods, with solid understanding of capacities and lead time in production
  • Good knowledge about Lean Manufacturing tools - Knowledge about Six Sigma
  • Knowledge in analyzing suppliers manufacturing performance and related working methods
  • Assessment skill to identify Gaps and future opportunities
  • A good communicator in English, both verbal and written with the ability to communicate clearly and in a simple way
  • Informal leadership, high energy, and drive to work with and through others both in IKEA and with suppliers, to reach common goals
  • Desire to find new improvement opportunities and make it happen through engaging and motivating people
