Job Title : Merchandise Manager

Geographical Coverage : Indonesia

Location : Surabaya

JOB PURPOSE:

Operate as the brand-specific contact for planning and managing business with WSI’s Sourcing & Product Development Team. Directly responsible for managing brand strategies in Indonesia. Manage seasonal new development plans and projections, as well as ongoing orders. Lead a team of Merchandise Associates, Furniture Engineers to make sure samples are ready as planned & negotiate prices with vendors. Work with Supply Chain team to support order status & capacity to ensure on time shipment and order placement.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Serve as primary leadership point of contact for developing brand-level business strategies.
  • Establish a business and technical rapport with factory management and R&D staff .
  • Work together with Furniture & Finishing Engineer team on new developments & propose the ideal vendor to Brand Sourcing.
  • Negotiate prices with vendors and propose changes in order to meet target prices. Also making sure all price submitted meets WSI Standards.
  • Monitor & track product development status, testing status, photo sample status and perform follow ups to make sure everything runs as planned.
  • Assign schedules (goals) and participate with Furniture Engineers based on the dates for sample reviews, color panel reviews, in-house testing, testing samples review prior to sending to the lab, pre-production meeting, MCS & MCP review. Making sure the schedules are on time.
  • Walk through 1st production with Furniture Engineer & QA Team.
  • Document all Product Information Sheets (PIS) and update Sourcing & Product Development team: final product data sheet, final sample review form, final assembly instruction, a signed MCS, a signed MCP, packaging BOM, CAD, any approved step panels or production control panels.
  • Develop new design/new product, new finishes that can be successful in the market.
  • Source for new factories and update Sourcing & Product Development Team.
  • Regularly visit vendors & delegate the brand. Keep updating with recent progress and plans to grow together and solve challenges.
  • Serve as a primary contact point for price increase issues, with detailed reasons and negotiate if there are any options to reduce, before submitting to the brand.

JOB HOLDER’S COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years sourcing experience in Furniture.
  • Strong leadership & negotiating skills, business minded & strong in technical skills
  • Large furniture vendor database in Indonesia with information about their strengths & weakness
  • Superior written communication, presentation, and listening skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with 4 seasonal calendars that overlaps one another
  • Able to deliver results by influencing internal and external partners
  • International experience required.
