Role Purpose
  • Conduct all financial activities and support Cluster Financial Controller to ensure financial and operational compliance with all British Council standard and policy and Indonesian rules and regulations.
  • Provide effective Financial and Decision Support service to support British Council Indonesia and British Council Indonesia Foundation operations: support team in financial monitoring and control to meet the needs the standard of audit requirement..


Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:
Management of Finance and Accounting Processes
  • Ensure and monitor day-to-day customer creation and collection process, travel and expense claim process, and vendor payments process as required by corporate standard.
  • Provide finance support in off-system payment as per required by operation and corporate standards.
  • Provide support to bank reconciliation process conducted by Finance Hub as per required by corporate standards.
  • Manage the day-to-day recording and posting of local journals into SAP system and monthly financial reports.
  • Review and analysis of open items in the balance sheet as per required by corporate standards in timely manner
  • Respond to various queries/ data request from UK/ Regional, internal staff, client/vendors in professional and timely manner.
  • Managing the response to various quarterly/yearly statistical survey in relation to finance data.
  • Ensuring processes of finance performance; transactions, reporting, monitoring & analysis of Balance Sheet statement are in place.
  • As a member of Finance department which leads by Cluster Financial Controller, support and develop British Council Indonesia and British Council Indonesia Foundation's operation/admin staff in various offices in Indonesia.
  • Coordinate with admin staff in teaching centre to collect finance document required.

Management of Internal and External Audit Processes
  • Manage internal audit process required by UK and external audit required by local authorities (including tax audit); ensure that all auditable finance factors are in line with the audit recommendations.
  • Liaising with various parties (local/ UK/ external) in relation to audit data collection/ queries.
  • Responds to auditor's queries and requests in professional and timely manner
  • Responsible for preparation of statutory audit report.


Management of Statutory Reporting Requirements
  • Manage the process of local statutory tax payment and reporting, ensure that the filing of tax returns are always on timely fashion.
  • Maintain good relationship and open communication with local tax/finance authorities.
  • Ensure that all financial transaction has align with Indonesia tax laws and perform a good level of tax planning.
  • Ensuring an up to date knowledge of British Council Indonesia Foundation accounting standards, policies, legislation and regulations.
  • Manage the process of local statutory tax payment and communication with local tax/finance authorities.

Management of Banking Related Updates and Cash Flow
  • Maintain day-to-day banking relationships with the local bank in professional and accordance with corporate standard.
  • Manage updates of bank related mandates and records according to corporate standard.
  • Close monitoring and controlling of cash flow position and always ensure the availability of cash flow to coven operations need.
  • Submit monthly cash flow reporting to UK/ Regional as per required by corporate standards on timely manner
  • Responding to various treasury/banking related information request from UK/ Regional.

Management of Financial Control and Compliance Framework (FCCF)
  • Assess compliance to corporate financial control and reporting standards.
  • Provide analysed report of monthly FCCF pack for Board's meeting and approval.
  • Identify and highlight any potential risk in relating to financial reporting issues.

Provision of Local Support to Planning and Budget Monitoring Process
  • Give an adequate advice to support staff in the preparation of plans/ forecasts annually and budget monitoring on monthly basis.
  • Liaise with local senior management team to ensure that a coordinated effort is achieved for the business area.
  • Meeting the target deadline set by Regional for planning annually.

Role specific knowledge and experience:
Demonstrable experience, in large complex international organisation of:
  • Financial competence at a standard equivalent to that of a professional qualification or demonstrated through experience - Qualified Accountant
  • Detailed knowledge of structure of SAP/ FABS encompassing basics of all components with advanced knowledge of at least one area
  • Financial Planning and Management reporting
  • Tendering and procurement skills
  • Accounting and journal.
  • Solid understanding about accounting standards (PSAK),Indonesia’s tax regulation and international accounting standards
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in similar roles (Finance Manager) in a multinational environment
  • Minimum 3-4 years in audit/accounting firm is preferable

Requirements:
  • Candidates must have the right to live and work in the country in which the role is based.
  • Bachelor degree, majored in Accounting/Finance
  • Fluent in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing) is required
  • Background working in accountant public firm is preferable
  • Professional certification i.e CA, CPA, ACCA is highly preferred
