Introduction
We are seeking dedicated and diligent Tenaga Kebersihan (Cleaning Staff) to maintain a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for elementary and secondary schools in Medan. This full‑time position plays a critical role in supporting the educational mission by ensuring that classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas are kept spotless and well‑organized. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding health and safety standards throughout the school day.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, laboratories, offices, hallways, stairwells, and outdoor areas, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste removal.
- Maintain sanitary conditions in restrooms and staff facilities by restocking supplies, disinfecting surfaces, and ensuring proper waste disposal.
- Manage the collection, segregation, and proper disposal of recyclable and non‑recyclable waste in accordance with local environmental regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections of floors, windows, doors, and furniture to identify and report any damage or maintenance needs to the facilities supervisor.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor polishers, and pressure washers safely and efficiently.
- Prepare and replenish cleaning supply inventories, ensuring that all necessary materials are available and stored securely.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down rooms for special events, examinations, and extracurricular activities, ensuring spaces are clean before and after use.
- Follow school policies and national health guidelines to prevent the spread of germs, especially during flu season or other public health concerns.
- Document daily cleaning activities and submit reports to the facilities manager for quality control and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate respectfully with teachers, administrative staff, and students, responding promptly to any urgent cleaning requests.
Requirements
- Minimum education: SMA/SMK or equivalent.
- Male candidates only; age must be under 35 years.
- Preferably of Catholic faith, reflecting the cultural context of the school community.
- No prior professional cleaning experience required, though any related experience is a plus.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 20 kg, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, safety protocols, and proper handling of equipment.
- Strong time‑management skills and the ability to work independently while meeting strict daily schedules.
- Good communication skills to interact courteously with staff, students, and visitors.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a trustworthy attitude, as the role involves access to school premises during non‑instructional hours.
