Duties

Incumbent is directly responsible for managing all Regional Security Office (RSO) programs for one of the largest U.S. Missions in the world. Provides critical investigative, administrative, technical, operational and logistical support to he U.S. Embassy and Regional Security Office. Serves as senior security advisor to the RSO on all law enforcement, security and threat-related matters in Indonesia. Serves as the RSO's senior liaison with Indonesian law enforcement and is responsible for filing criminal complaints for crimes affecting the U.S. Mission or its personnel. Provides direct, active liaison with the most senior police and military officials responsible for counter-terrorism and national security throughout Indonesia. Analyzes information on indigenous and trans-national terrorist groups and threats that could be of concern to U.S. interests through relationships with senior leaders from the ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesian National Police (INP), Indonesian military (TNI), and related government agencies and non-governmental organizations. Serves as immediate supervisor, manager, and trainer for one Deputy Chief Investigator, four subordinate Security Investigators, and two Security Clerks. Provides language translation (Indonesia - English) during meetings with senior host-country officials (e.g., four-star INP chief). Incumbent manages and conducts complex, sensitive investigations as directed by the RSO.


Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Four to six years of progressively responsible experience working in the allied fields of criminal intelligence, law enforcement and / or security and three years of supervisory experience is required.

Education Requirements:

EDUCATION: A four years of university study in Law; Criminology; International Relations; Political / Social Science; Police Science; or Police Academy diploma is required.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Fluency Level of Speaking/Reading/Writing in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required. (This may be tested)

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Jakarta - Indonesia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.


For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.


The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

  • IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), Letter from Veterans’ Affairs which indicates the present existence of a service-connected disability dated within the past six months, equivalent documentation, or certification. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.


** This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.

COVID-19 Requirements for Eligible Family Members

As required by Executive Order 14043, Eligible Family Members who will be employed on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Temporary Appointment (TEMP) are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee’s duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law. Eligible Family Members who will be employed on a Personal Services Agreement and compensated under the USG pay plan will be required to attest to their vaccination status using the Vaccine Attestation Form. If you are not fully vaccinated or decline to provide this information, you will be required to demonstrate proof of a negative COVID-19 test completed within 72 hours of entry to a Mission facility and comply with enhanced COVID-19 mitigation protocols.
