Introduction
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Freelance Debate Tutor to join our team in Semarang. This part‑time position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about public speaking, critical thinking, and empowering students to articulate their ideas confidently. As a freelance tutor, you will have the flexibility to design engaging debate sessions while contributing to the intellectual growth of a diverse learner base ranging from university students to recent graduates.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver weekly debate workshops for groups of 8‑12 participants, covering topics relevant to current affairs, ethics, and academic subjects.
- Develop comprehensive lesson plans, including research materials, argument frameworks, and evaluation rubrics.
- Coach students on effective argument construction, logical reasoning, rebuttal techniques, and public speaking etiquette.
- Facilitate mock debates, provide real‑time feedback, and assess performance using clear, objective criteria.
- Collaborate with fellow tutors and curriculum designers to align session content with the Academy’s pedagogical standards.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and progress reports, communicating outcomes to students and, when applicable, their academic supervisors.
- Stay updated on emerging debate formats, digital tools for virtual sessions, and best practices in adult education.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive environment that encourages diverse viewpoints and constructive dialogue.
Requirements
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree (S1) in any discipline; advanced degrees (S2/S3) are a plus.
- Open to all genders; candidates must demonstrate professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Prior experience in debate coaching, public speaking, or related teaching roles is preferred, though fresh graduates with strong communication skills are also encouraged to apply.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities in Bahasa Indonesia; proficiency in English is advantageous.
- Demonstrated honesty, reliability, and a collaborative mindset; ability to work independently or within a team.
- Strong organizational skills, with the capacity to manage lesson preparation and session delivery within the stipulated schedule (Monday‑Saturday, 08:00‑17:00).
