Your future role

Austin has an exciting permanent full-time employment opportunity for a suitably qualified Planning & Control Manager at our purpose-built manufacturing facility in Batam, Indonesia. Reporting to the Operation Manager, this role will ensure that Austin drives resources, activities and programs that align with Austin’s organisational strategy and operational requirements.

Role duties

  • Direct responsibility to manage and control costs and profitability margins.
  • Protect, administer, and manage organisational assets to align with approved finance standards and practices.
  • Responsible for the implementation of practices, processes, and procedures to ensure equipment, tools, facilities, buildings, and organisational assets are protected and deviations are addressed as and when required.
  • Foster and embrace a workplace environment free of discrimination, harassment, harm, bullying, unhealthy conflict, abuse, gender inequity and any other destructive or toxic practices and act promptly to end, correct, resolve, investigate and as required implement disciplinary action related to unacceptable behaviours.
  • Ensure efficient control of all overtime and non-productive hours.
  • Ensure all QA/QC documentation is completed during the course of manufacturing of each product, it is accurate, reflective, relevant, and submitted in a complete and timely manner.
  • Provide cost calculations for labour/Man-hours, consumables, materials, sub-contractors and prepare take-offs for assigned projects and coordinated with procurement – BOM/BOQ.
  • Ensure project/fabrication costs are achieved against projected estimate/budget costs and safety, scheduling and planning activities are maintained.
  • Liaise with operational management and stakeholders to implement and establish procedures for baseline schedule and cost control budgets.
  • Provide project performance data, project schedules and reports in a concise and timely manner as required by the project’s teams and senior management.
  • Proactively identify project risks, deviations, and slippages; report and communicate issues to senior members of the Projects Controls and Management team.
  • Analyse current and future workloads to ensure planning responsibilities and commitments can be achieved. Communicate all issues within the programmed work to senior management.
  • Ensure cost control processes are implemented to report on estimates, expenditures, and cost commitments accurately.
  • Monitor receipt of all material certificates and test certificates and assign to correct jobs. Initiate or recommend solutions to any deficiencies through approved methods.
  • Comply with all company procedures, manage, revise, and maintain status of the detailed project costs estimate/forecast including all phases of project execution from design/engineering, material/equipment procurement and deliveries, construction contracts through start-up activities to closeout.
  • Assist in early identification of long lead items, resource constraints and required project start dates.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & LICENCES
  • Degree in Engineering or relevant technical discipline and relevant management experience.
  • Or minimum 7 years’ experience in the same designation of equivalent experience in operational/managerial roles and advanced and relevant studies in the engineering trade.
SKILLS & EXPERTISE
  • Previous operational and managerial experience in Engineering or technical field
  • Heavy industry, resources, oil and gas or related experience in managerial roles
  • Demonstratable understanding and experience with financial systems, budgeting, cost, profit and loss, forecasting, cash/working capital management and financial reporting.
  • Previous exposure to commercial systems, sales, forecasting and customer relationships
  • Efficient with Microsoft software packages most advantageous.
  • Leadership skills – team management, dynamics and change management located in both local and remote offices.
  • Ability to coach and mentor individuals of varying skills.
  • Proficient with computer literacy, minimum MS Words, MS Excel and MS Power point, knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Good knowledge of computer applications used for communication, presentation, and effective report writing skills. Proficient communication in English & Bahasa Indonesia fluency in verbal and writing is a mandatory.
  • A detail-oriented person, KPI, process driven and highly organized, possessing strong leadership and good communication skill.
  • Willing to work the necessary hours to improve safety across all shifts, and able to work under pressure. Able to work independently in daily execution.
