Responsibilities
- Assist senior kitchen staff in preparing ingredients, including washing, chopping, marinating, and portioning according to recipe specifications.
- Support the plating and garnish of dishes to maintain consistency and visual appeal for guests.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards, including regular cleaning of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Monitor inventory levels of pantry items, report shortages, and help with receiving and organizing deliveries.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, grills, ovens, and fryers safely under supervision.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down the kitchen before and after service, ensuring all tools are properly stored.
- Communicate effectively with front‑of‑house staff to coordinate order timing and address special dietary requests.
- Participate in daily briefings, taking note of menu changes, special promotions, and any operational adjustments.
- Adapt to flexible shift patterns, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional night shifts, to meet the restaurant’s operational hours.
- Contribute ideas for menu improvements, cost‑saving measures, and workflow enhancements as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum education: High School Diploma (SMA), Vocational School (SMK), or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of hands‑on experience as a kitchen helper in a restaurant or catering setting.
- Strong knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and proper handling of kitchen tools.
- Understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and sanitation practices.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, customer‑oriented demeanor.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a fast‑paced environment.
