Introduction
We are seeking a dedicated Shadow Teacher for Classroom Support to join our inclusive education team. This role is essential for fostering a supportive learning environment for students with special needs, ensuring they receive personalized assistance while participating fully in mainstream classroom activities. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, parents, and specialists to adapt curriculum, implement individualized strategies, and promote academic and social growth.
Responsibilities
- Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support to students with special educational needs during regular class hours.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment methods to meet each student’s individualized education program (IEP) goals.
- Implement behavior‑management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies that encourage independence and confidence.
- Monitor student progress, record observations, and communicate findings to teachers and parents on a weekly basis.
- Facilitate communication between the student and the teacher, helping the student understand instructions, ask questions, and engage in classroom discussions.
- Assist with the development of sensory‑friendly activities, mobility support, and classroom accommodations such as seating arrangements or assistive technology.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing insights on the student’s academic, emotional, and social development.
- Provide after‑school tutoring or reinforcement sessions as needed to reinforce concepts taught during the day.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and adhere to all school policies regarding child protection and data privacy.
- Continuously seek professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education, inclusive pedagogy, and related therapeutic approaches.
Requirements
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree (S1) – preferably in Special Education, Guidance & Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Age: 22‑30 years (maximum 35 years is acceptable).
- Gender: Open to all genders.
- At least 1 year of teaching or related experience, preferably with children who have special needs.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to take initiative in classroom settings.
- Creative, innovative teaching style that engages learners and promotes active participation.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adapt language for diverse audiences.
- Basic proficiency in English is preferred, enabling support for bilingual curricula.
- Willingness to accompany and support special‑needs children throughout the school day.
- Key soft skills: empathy, patience, adaptability, problem‑solving, and teamwork.
