Introduction

This pivotal role will be based in the Riau region and will oversee the performance, growth, and operational excellence of the branch. The Business Manager will act as the bridge between corporate strategy and local execution, ensuring that the branch not only meets but exceeds its key performance indicators (KPIs) while fostering a culture of transparency, customer focus, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and monitor all branch KPIs, including loan disbursement targets, repayment rates, and portfolio quality, ensuring alignment with regional and corporate goals.
  • Lead a team of 5‑10 staff members, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to boost productivity and morale.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive Sales & Marketing strategies that integrate community outreach, digital channels, and partnership programs to expand the customer base.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day branch operations, including cash management, compliance, and risk controls, guaranteeing smooth and secure service delivery.
  • Manage human resources functions such as recruitment, training, scheduling, and employee relations to maintain a capable and motivated workforce.
  • Identify and evaluate new market territories for expansion, preparing feasibility studies, and presenting actionable plans to senior management.
  • Maintain rigorous portfolio quality standards, conducting regular audits, monitoring credit risk, and implementing corrective actions when needed.
  • Uphold the principle of openness and transparency within the branch, fostering trust among staff, borrowers, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with regional leadership on reporting, budgeting, and strategic initiatives, ensuring the branch contributes to Amartha’s overall mission.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: Diploma III (D3) or higher (D4 preferred).
  • At least 2 years of experience in micro‑finance, preferably within a Grameen Bank‑style institution or similar.
  • Proven track record of managing a branch or equivalent unit with responsibility for P&L.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams of 5‑10 members, driving high performance and engagement.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and data‑driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with borrowers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with experience in designing and implementing sales and marketing plans.
  • Own a reliable personal vehicle and possess a valid SIM C (motorcycle) license for regional travel.
  • Willingness to be permanently based in the Amartha regional office in Riau.
