Introduction
We are seeking a dynamic and qualified Kepala Instalasi Farmasi Rumah Sakit (Head of Hospital Pharmacy Department) to lead our pharmaceutical services within a modern, multi‑disciplinary medical center. This senior role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, effective, and economical delivery of medicines to patients, supporting clinicians, and maintaining compliance with national health regulations. The successful candidate will oversee a team of pharmacists, technicians, and support staff while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and hospital administrators to optimize therapeutic outcomes and enhance patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement pharmacy policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality‑assurance programs that align with Indonesian health authority guidelines and international best practices.
- Manage the procurement, storage, inventory control, and distribution of all medication and medical supplies, ensuring proper labeling, temperature control, and stock rotation.
- Lead a multidisciplinary pharmacy team, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and continuous professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate with clinical departments to support formulary management, drug utilization reviews, and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
- Oversee the preparation of sterile and non‑sterile compounded medications, guaranteeing aseptic technique and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
- Monitor and analyze medication error trends, implement corrective actions, and promote a culture of safety throughout the hospital.
- Prepare and present regular reports on pharmacy performance metrics, budget adherence, and cost‑saving strategies to senior management.
- Ensure that all pharmacy staff maintain an active STRA (Surat Tanda Registrasi Apoteker) and complete required continuing education.
- Respond to emergencies and high‑pressure situations, such as code blue events, by providing rapid medication counseling and dispensing.
- Participate in hospital accreditation processes, audits, and regulatory inspections, addressing any findings promptly.
Requirements
- Minimum education: S1 Pharmacy Professional degree; a S2 in Pharmacy is highly preferred.
- At least 1 year of demonstrable experience in pharmacy management within a hospital setting.
- Active and valid STRA registration.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and, preferably, basic proficiency in English.
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Sound knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and therapeutic guidelines relevant to acute and chronic care.
- Competence in using pharmacy information systems, inventory software, and electronic health records (EHR).
