Introduction
The Engineering Department Chief will lead the engineering and facilities operations for a dynamic hospitality organization. Reporting directly to senior management, this role ensures that all physical assets, from guest rooms to back‑of‑house systems, operate safely, efficiently, and in line with brand standards. Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and oversee daily maintenance, repair, and preventive‑maintenance programs for all hotel facilities, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Develop and manage the annual engineering budget, tracking expenditures, forecasting costs, and identifying opportunities for cost‑saving initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Coordinate major renovation and capital‑project initiatives, from concept through completion, ensuring compliance with local building codes, fire safety regulations, and sustainability standards.
- Implement and monitor preventive‑maintenance schedules using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize downtime.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency‑response drills; ensure all staff are trained in proper safety procedures.
- Manage relationships with external contractors, vendors, and service providers, negotiating contracts and overseeing service level agreements.
- Collaborate with housekeeping, front‑office, and food‑and‑beverage departments to address guest‑room issues promptly and maintain high guest‑satisfaction scores.
- Drive sustainability projects such as energy‑efficiency upgrades, water‑conservation programs, and waste‑reduction initiatives aligned with corporate ESG goals.
- Prepare detailed reports for senior leadership on equipment performance, project progress, and compliance status.
Requirements
- Minimum education: High School Diploma (SMA/SMK) or equivalent; a technical or engineering certification is a strong plus.
- At least 2 years of proven experience in a senior engineering role within the hospitality industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse, equal, and inclusive team environment.
- Excellent command of English—both spoken and written—to communicate with international guests and corporate stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate cross‑functional teams.
- Results‑oriented mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding operational targets.
- Solid knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals, building systems, and maintenance best practices.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Flexibility to work Monday through Saturday, 08:00 – 17:00, with occasional after‑hours or weekend support for emergencies.
