Introduction
The Director of Engineering (Corporate) is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the entire engineering function across our portfolio of hotels and resorts. Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, the role combines strategic planning, technical expertise, and people management to ensure that all property assets operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with brand standards. This position plays a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, cost‑effective maintenance, and sustainable engineering practices in a fast‑moving hospitality environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive engineering strategies that support the hotel’s operational goals, including preventative maintenance programs, capital improvement plans, and energy‑saving initiatives.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and high performance.
- Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, as well as HVAC, fire protection, and building automation systems.
- Manage the engineering budget, track expenditures, and identify cost‑reduction opportunities without compromising service quality.
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and brand-specific engineering standards.
- Coordinate closely with the operations, finance, and procurement departments to align engineering projects with overall business objectives.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to assess system performance, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Lead emergency response efforts, including equipment failures, power outages, and natural disasters, ensuring rapid restoration of services.
- Drive sustainability initiatives such as energy efficiency programs, waste reduction, and green building certifications.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, performance metrics, and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or a related discipline); a Master’s degree is a plus.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in a senior engineering role within the hotel, resort, or large‑scale hospitality sector.
- Deep knowledge of hotel engineering systems, including MEP, HVAC, fire safety, and building management systems.
- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of building and motivating high‑performing technical teams.
- Strong project management skills, capable of planning, executing, and delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and to influence senior stakeholders.
- Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Eligibility to work in Indonesia; minimum education requirement of SMA/SMK or equivalent for administrative compliance.
