Introduction

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Salesman Retail to join our growing team in the Dumai region. This role is focused on expanding our presence in local retail outlets, ensuring product visibility, and driving sales of premium tobacco and FMCG brands. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of merchandising principles, strong interpersonal skills, and a proven track record of meeting sales targets in a fast‑moving consumer goods environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain Point‑of‑Sale (POS) materials such as stickers, dummy packs, banners, and cigarette displays to maximize brand exposure.
  • Develop and nurture positive relationships with store owners and managers, acting as the primary brand ambassador.
  • Provide clear guidance to retail partners on inventory management, encouraging the sale of existing stock to reduce over‑stock and improve turnover.
  • Educate shop staff on the features, benefits, and unique selling propositions (USP) of new and existing product lines, including flavor profiles and promotional offers.
  • Conduct regular store visits on a scheduled basis, documenting shelf compliance, stock levels, and competitor activity.
  • Report sales performance, market insights, and any challenges encountered to the regional sales manager.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to execute local promotions, sampling events, and in‑store activations.
  • Ensure all activities comply with legal requirements, including maintaining an active driver’s license (SIM C) and a clean police record (SKCK).
  • Participate in weekly sales meetings and training sessions to stay updated on product knowledge and sales techniques.

Requirements

  • Age: 18‑30 years old.
  • Education: Minimum high school diploma (SMA/SMK) – diploma holders are preferred.
  • Gender: Male.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a merchandiser or sales representative within the FMCG, tobacco, or retail sectors.
  • Hands‑on experience installing POS materials and managing shelf space.
  • Active SIM C driver’s license and a valid SKCK (police clearance).
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence store owners.
  • Proficient in using basic sales management tools and mobile reporting applications.
  • Must not be a former employee of KT&G.
