Responsibilities
- Operate and navigate the vessel safely, adhering to established routes, maritime regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct pre‑departure inspections of equipment, safety gear, and the ship’s bell system to guarantee operational readiness.
- Maintain accurate logs of voyage details, fuel consumption, cargo handling, and any incidents that occur during the shift.
- Coordinate with port authorities, pilots, and on‑shore dispatch teams to ensure smooth loading, unloading, and docking procedures.
- Communicate effectively with crew members, providing clear instructions and updates, especially during high‑pressure situations.
- Lead emergency response drills, including fire suppression, man‑overboard rescue, and evacuation protocols.
- Perform routine maintenance on navigation instruments, communication devices, and the ship’s bell to prevent downtime.
- Collaborate with the engineering and logistics departments to optimize cargo stowage and balance for safe transit.
- Report daily performance metrics and any maintenance needs to the operations manager.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Requirements
- Minimum education: SMA/SMK or equivalent.
- Open to all genders; preference for candidates with proven experience in maritime vessel operation.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and make swift, sound decisions.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, essential for clear coordination with crew and shore personnel.
- Honesty, reliability, and a high sense of responsibility are mandatory.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
- Physical fitness suitable for the demands of shipboard life, including the ability to handle long shifts and variable weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of maritime safety regulations and navigation principles.
