Introduction
The Warehouse Purchasing Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our supply chain remains efficient, cost‑effective, and responsive to market demand. Based in a dynamic consumer‑goods environment, the specialist will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring the raw materials, packaging, and ancillary items required for smooth warehouse operations. Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or an associate degree with relevant experience), demonstrate strong analytical abilities, and exhibit excellent communication skills to collaborate across multiple internal departments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a strategic sourcing plan that aligns with inventory targets and seasonal demand fluctuations.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and assess risk factors.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to secure the best possible value while maintaining quality standards.
- Prepare, review, and approve Purchase Orders (POs) ensuring accuracy of quantities, specifications, and pricing.
- Perform regular forecasting of stock levels using historical consumption data, sales trends, and promotional calendars.
- Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel functions—such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and macros—to analyze stock movement, price variance, and supplier performance.
- Coordinate closely with Warehouse, Marketing, and Finance teams to resolve any discrepancies in invoices, deliveries, or inventory records.
- Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date supplier database, ensuring all contracts, certifications, and compliance documents are properly filed.
- Participate in periodic audits and support the implementation of lean‑warehouse principles to reduce waste and improve turnaround time.
Requirements
- Education: Minimum D3/S1 in any discipline; degrees in Economics, Business Administration, or Food Technology are preferred.
- Experience: At least 1–2 years of hands‑on experience as a Purchasing Staff or Buyer, preferably within consumer goods, food retail, or related manufacturing sectors.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis; ability to generate forecasts and manage stock data efficiently.
- Negotiation Ability: Demonstrated success in negotiating favorable pricing, payment terms, and service levels with suppliers.
- Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy in reviewing Purchase Orders, invoices, and contract terms to prevent costly errors.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective cross‑functional collaboration.
- Personal Attributes: Highly organized, proactive, and able to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
