Introduction

We are a dynamic, fast‑growing bakery located in the heart of the city, known for its artisanal breads, delightful pastries, and custom‑designed cakes. To keep up with increasing demand and maintain our high standards of quality, we are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Baker to join our production team. This role is ideal for individuals with a solid foundation in baking, a passion for creativity, and a willingness to learn and grow within the culinary industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior bakers in preparing doughs, batters, and fillings for a wide variety of breads, pastries, and confectioneries.
  • Measure, mix, and knead ingredients following standardized recipes to ensure consistency and product excellence.
  • Operate ovens, mixers, proofing cabinets, and other bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support daily production schedules by preparing mise‑en‑place, organizing workstations, and maintaining a clean, sanitary environment.
  • Participate in the decoration of cakes, applying frosting, fondant, and artistic designs; create fondant characters when required.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, report shortages, and assist in receiving deliveries.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations, including proper temperature control, cross‑contamination prevention, and proper labeling.
  • Work flexible hours, including occasional weekend shifts (Monday‑Saturday) and overtime during peak periods such as holidays and special events.
  • Collaborate closely with the production team, communicating effectively to resolve any issues that arise during baking cycles.
  • Continuously improve personal baking techniques through on‑the‑job training and feedback from senior staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: SMA/SMK or equivalent; a background in Culinary Arts or a related field (e.g., TATA BOGA) is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience as a baker, bakery production staff, or kitchen assistant is desirable but not mandatory; on‑the‑job training will be provided.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated discipline, reliability, and a strong work ethic; punctuality and honesty are essential.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks, from mixing dough to cleaning equipment, and to adapt to changing production demands.
  • Ability to work overtime and handle a fast‑paced workflow during busy periods.
  • Basic cake decoration skills are a plus; experience creating fondant characters is an added advantage.
