Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties that ensure both product quality and outstanding customer service. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operating espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment to produce a consistent line‑up of espresso‑based drinks, pour‑overs, and specialty beverages.
- Preparing and presenting coffee drinks according to established recipes, while maintaining the highest standards of taste, temperature, and visual appeal.
- Greeting customers with a warm, friendly demeanor, taking orders accurately, and providing knowledgeable recommendations on coffee origins, flavor profiles, and pairings.
- Executing up‑selling and cross‑selling techniques, such as promoting seasonal drinks, pastries, and loyalty programs, to maximize sales.
- Handling cash and electronic transactions efficiently, ensuring accurate register balancing at the end of each shift.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including regular cleaning of equipment, workstations, and the customer area.
- Monitoring inventory levels, restocking coffee beans, milk, syrups, and consumables, and notifying management of low stock or equipment maintenance needs.
- Participating in daily briefings, sharing feedback, and contributing ideas for menu enhancements or service improvements.
- Adhering to health, safety, and food‑handling regulations, and promoting a culture of hygiene among team members.
- Assisting in training new staff members, sharing best practices, and fostering a collaborative team spirit.
Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria and demonstrate the soft skills essential for success in a high‑energy coffee environment.
- Maximum age: 27 years.
- Minimum education: SMA/SMK or equivalent; a background in hospitality or culinary arts is advantageous.
- Not currently enrolled in any academic program.
- At least 1 year of proven experience as a barista in a café, restaurant, or similar setting.
- Fresh graduates from hospitality, culinary, or related fields are welcome to apply.
- Physically and mentally fit to handle long shifts and the demands of a busy outlet.
- Strong service orientation with a positive, enthusiastic, and optimistic attitude.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear interaction with customers and teammates.
- Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
- Time‑management and multitasking capabilities to handle peak‑hour pressures without compromising quality.
- Willingness to be stationed at our Balikpapan outlet and adapt to a rotating schedule that includes weekends.
- Technical skills: proficient in operating coffee machines, grinders, and related equipment; basic knowledge of coffee bean origins and brewing methods.
