Introduction

The Superintendent Machinery Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the complete fabrication process of structural frames, skids, and equipment supports within a high‑performance industrial environment. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Superintendent ensures that all fabrication activities align with rigorous safety standards, industry codes (API, ASME, AWS), and project schedules. This position plays a critical bridge between engineering design, maintenance teams, and on‑site construction crews, guaranteeing that every component is built to exacting quality and reliability standards.

Working a six‑day week (Monday‑Saturday) from 08:00 to 17:00, the successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team, drive continuous improvement, and act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting complex fabrication challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end‑to‑end fabrication of structural frames, skids, and equipment supports, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
  • Review engineering drawings and bill of materials, verifying material selection, cutting lists, and assembly procedures.
  • Enforce compliance with company safety policies and industry standards such as API, ASME, and AWS, conducting regular safety briefings.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, maintenance, and project management to synchronize design changes and schedule updates.
  • Monitor fabrication schedules, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on time and within budget.
  • Supervise workshop and site fabrication teams, fostering a culture of quality, productivity, and accountability.
  • Perform routine inspections and non‑destructive testing to validate workmanship against specifications.
  • Lead troubleshooting initiatives, quickly diagnosing and resolving fabrication‑related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee the proper use, calibration, and maintenance of fabrication tools, CNC machines, welding equipment, and other critical assets.
  • Communicate daily work plans, priorities, and safety alerts to crew members, ensuring clear expectations and seamless handoffs.
  • Mentor junior technicians, providing training on best practices, welding procedures, and quality control methods.
  • Drive continuous improvement programs, suggesting process optimizations, lean manufacturing techniques, and cost‑saving measures.

Requirements

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in fabrication supervision, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy‑industry environments.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, knowledge of API, ASME, and AWS standards, and hands‑on experience with welding, cutting, and assembly processes.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams, allocate resources effectively, and motivate staff toward high performance.
  • Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose fabrication issues, develop corrective action plans, and implement solutions swiftly.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication in Bahasa Indonesia and English, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Safety Focus: Commitment to a zero‑incident workplace, with a track record of promoting and enforcing safety protocols.
